Debi's definition of perfect is obviously hinged on appearance. How else could she make that statement after watching herself on the tape... "I've always tried to be that perfect mom." ...she is blind to what we are seeing in her. My initial response to Debi was anger but after hearing her talk it changed to pity...she knows on an intellectual level that what she's doing is wrong but she truly doesn't seem to be as disturbed by her own behavior as one would expect...I am not a perfect mother...I have made monumental mistakes that I have had to have therapy to help me deal with...and my children have caused me to feel a lot of emotions...anger, frustration, joy, disappointment etc...but I have never felt disgusted by either of my kids...my daughter was overweight for a few years growing up...shes 19 now and beautiful in my eyes as she was then...I have alway told her she is beautiful and I didn't even think she was overweight..."You have to say that", she'd pout..."You're my mother." I think Dr. Phil hit the nail on the head when he touched on the fact that Victoria reminds Debi of her ex. She seems almost oblivious to the fact that she as a mother is responsible for her childs weight at the age of seven...her hate for Victoria's father must run pretty deep. Hard to say what's at the core of a mother feeling that way for her own child. But I feel sorry for Debi and I hope she can overcome this, for all their sakes. They are a beautiful family and I don't think it is too late for Victoria.
