That's a load of bs if I ever heard it. What about the men and women who suffer from anorexia? I'm sure we all saw those episodes of Dr. Phil.
I'm so tired of hearing those "I lost 15 lbs and I look great!". It's nice those people now look worse than they did before. Society lives with cruel ideals. You're just another robot.
I mirror your frustration. And while health of course comes first, I don't believe you have to be skinny to be healthy. Look around -most of the healthiest people I know are over size 16 - they're active and attentive and they enjoy their lives! And many of my thin friends and family are plagued with various health problems. I wish weight wasn't such a popular health "catch-all."
And, either way, your life can't be ALL about the pursuit of "health" - ultimately, whether you like it or not, you are going to die. Whether it's at 60 or 109...the question should be "What will make my life a deeply happy one?" and go from there. There's no need to be an obsessive gym bunny or live on wheat germ and raw spinach to be reasonably healthy. Know what I mean, jellybean?
