 I kind of do see your point. She really shouldn't want to see him, but at the time of the murder she was 2 years old so she grew up not knowing her father.  I think she needs to confront him just to have closure, whether good or bad. It will obviously be bad because it was such a tragidy and no doubt drugs were involved.  Drugs changes a person drastically and makes them a coward.  There may be a slight chance that he cant face his daughter because he knows what it has done to her life as well as his.He will also probally never get over this, but for sure his daughter won't.  If she sees her father there will probally be alot more pain for her to go through than she already has.  He can never make up for something like this, but she feels that she has to see him and maybe find some reasoning for it all but there won't be.  She is in for a hard long road to deal with this issue. She feels the need but it won't do her any good.

I think she needs closure.  Yes, she knows her father killed her mother, but she needed to see for herself who he was.  There he is, her genetic father ~ he looks like her and she must have inherited dozens of haphazard things from him, not all of them bad. 

 

She had to look at that waste of a man and reconcile the person in front of her with the 'father' that every girl longs in her heart to have ~ that's a hard thing to do! However, it might get done better and more quickly, if she has him in front of her for a moment of time for hello and goodbye.

 

Dr. Phil is doing an awesome job with this tough case, and here's one of the reasons I think it's so compelling.  I get the impression that Dr. Phil was willing to move mountains to help this deserving and courageous young woman (cause he moved some mountains).  And, if he had to choose between either helping this woman or airing this show in front of millions, he'd choose to help this woman ~ it's all over him how much he wants to help her ~ and he does.

Give the man a break!  I think he's trying to make strides.  You try being in jail for 20 years and then getting out and trying to figure out what to do.  If God thought we were all wastes, where would you be?  Let's see what happens after this show, in the months to come.  Erica's going to be the one to be healed if she sticks it through and Dr. Phil and the familly's plan works.....
