02/12 The Dr. Phil House: Man Camp, Part 3
Quote From: wendydarlingtxI've never participated in group therapy, but is what we saw today
typical of group therapy, when all three couples were gathered to hear
Nic (sp?) and Amanda's story?
I mean, did Dr. Phil REALLY need to ask the opinions of the two other
ladies about Amanda's stripping??? C'mon, he should have known or
anticipated that their responses would upset Amanda--it's not like
anybody in that room is levelheaded and could be expected to respond in
a levelheaded, rational manner.
I thought that was just counterproductive, and just pandering to the
reality-show-TV/drama enthusiast. I would think a professional would
know better than to elicit and encourage a judgemental atmosphere in a
therapy session.
And as for my own personal thoughts on "exotic dancing": I would have a
really hard time with my fiance going to a strip club--and have told
him in no uncertain terms--but I also cannot easily look down my nose
at a woman who does it for a living. I met a woman who was a stripper,
and she struck me as a very sweet person. I was sad when I stopped
going to the workout place where she went, too, because I wanted to get
to know her more.
Yes, it's sad, and it's not right, but I don't know if I can see it in such black and white terms.
well in group therapy its just what it sounds like every one in that group gets a chance to tell you what they like or dislike about you, it is mant to teach you to except peoples views about you and not judge them for having that view instead you look inside yourself to see what it is about you that projects such a image to them, if its a image you dont like you look at your self to see how you can change the image you projected to them about you, its a good working tool but all persons involved must get the same chance to express there views of each other in a controlled way meaning not to hit fist city over what some one says they think about you,it will teach you to change what you dont like about yourself.
