When someone finds out that they are pregnant is there a law that requires them to get random drug testing? How about taking a polygraph on the way to thier parenting counceling session? I personally remember thinking that there are countless parents out there who cannot properly provide care to a stuffed animal, but have babies that they don't care for and get by with it. It's difficult not to take those things "personally" when we have years worth of interviews, medical testing (proving we are healthy enough to adopt), and countless checks to write out to "buy" our children, none of which is covered by health insurance. When you want to be a parent as much as most people who go the route of adoption do you do not ask questions, you do as you're asked.
The sad truth is that there are some bad people out there who often place themselves in a position to exploit a child, but please don't imply that the mountain of forms, FBI background checks and endless hoops we jumped through to adopt our kids weren't enough. A trusted agency will 99% of the time make a good choice for the child, birthparent and adoptive parents. The 1% who are not in an ideal home situation are worth just as much as the 99% who go to great people, so are the countless abused and neglected children who get abused and neglected by the family they were born into. I understand your point, I hope you understand mine.
