meltdown

Quote From: justnancy

I thought Dr. Phil did an excellent job of handling Melissa's pseudo 'meltdown'. (I know I tout Dr. Phil's praises a lot, but what can I say, I like what he does.  That's why I watch his show, chat on his message boards, etc.  I guess I could go write about this on the Montel board but it wouldn't be the same.)

As for Melissa's melting down, I don't think anybody thought she was crying because she was sorry.  There was no change of heart going on there.  She was crying because Dr. Phil had ripped off the mask and exposed her as the antisocial being that she is.  She didn't like being seen as someone without conscience or character.  She desperately wanted to look like she had feelings, so she started crying.

I personally think that a lot of antisocials want to look like they have feelings because it makes it easier for them to function (i.e., manipulate) in society.  Melissa feigned her best to make her meltdown look remorse driven, but in the throes of it, she couldn't resist the attempt to launch into a  slander campaign against her victims, like, she was crying because her victims had just been so doggoned mean to her on the internet.

Dr. Phil got her to agree never to do these crimes again.  Melissa said, "That's easy." Probably because she was lying, but I think she probably won't do anything like this again? Why? Because pretty soon, she's going to be sitting behind jail bars.  Her son is going to be in foster care (doubtful that any judge would leave him with her gun wielding parents).  And, she's going to be up to her neck in lawsuits.

Dr. Phil called it right when he suggested that Melissa was getting off on refusing to meet with the three women she had hurt in the past.  I agree that she wanted control.  I think that's why she tried to shrug off what was going to happen to her in the future, because she knew it was out of her hands, so why pick it up.  However, she won't like the lack of control she has when she's sitting in a cell.

And to think Dr. Phil said he would help her get therapy. Thought Dr. Phil was wrong there...sorry Dr. Phil.
