I think what bothers me the most, is we are on a slippery slope toward the same forms of entertainment (how many out there would like to see a public execution of someone, I am sure there are a few whether they care to admit it or not ) our children and teens EMULATE this stuff ( how many parents have seen the Jackass or Bumfights videos ? Bet many of your teens have, but they aren't going to tell you about it ) this guy losing his virginity on TV, half of North America will be tuned in, Sex is another form of entertainment otherwise there would be no need for the XXX ratings, no demand, no supply. So now that Fear Factor and Survivor have lost their edge in the "Reality TV" saturated networks, it should scare people to think what they will come up with next to get your viewing, and to keep up their ratings. Have you seen the news today? A man in England hanged himself LIVE over an internet chat room! And the people who were watching the live feed were egging him on to do it! CNN showed some of the things that people were saying to him. I could not believe what I was reading and hearing. People were calling him a whimp and others said that he was not hanging himself fast enough.
There is an investigation going on right now over this issue. The people who were egging this suicide on may be held partly responsible for this mans death.
How could anyone just sit back and watch someone end their own life??????? And to add insult to injury...they taunt this man while he is obviously crying out for some kind of help and attention.
This is just truely sad and disturbing to me that sooo many people in the world have no value of a human life!! I can not begin to imagine what this mans poor family is going through. It must be hard enough to lose someone through a suicide, but to then find out that thousands of people were a witness to this and did NOTHING to try and stop him.
I find it very sad that humans are the most intelligent of things on this planet and we are also the most savage of any animal to have ever walked the face of this Earth. Even the Lion or Tiger are not this cruel to their own kind. It is no wonder soooo many people have become depressed and lack self-esteem...if this is considered good entertainment then I for one, WANT NO PART OF THIS!
I think I am still in shock over this whole story and still having a hard time believing what I just watched. |
