04/09 The Dr. Phil House: Saving Grace

Quote From: yougtbk

From what I saw of the show The child didn't say anything until bath time and the grandmother was in dis-belief  that her husband would do something like that.

We had one here two years ago that just now came to trial and the mother didn't report it she talked to the dad  later the next day and this wasn't someone they knew she saw it happen she was in dis-belief and he didn't get arrested for it.    If its really hard for some one you don't know and see.  What it would be like for someone you do know and don't see?

In the show I heard  the parents talked to the grandparents and the child told the parents. I did not hear the part where the child came back to the house after she told her grandmother and the abuse continued under her grandmothers and parents knowlege.  As far as I know nothing happened to the child after she told the grandmother and the grandmother knew nothing of it before the child said anything. I just dont see where anyone would think it was her fault that her husband abused the granddaugher.

Which passage is that " it would be better for someone to hang a rock around their necks and drown then to hurt an innocent child" I remember "thou shalt not kill." and besides the grandmother,  Todd doesn't seem to want to disolve ties with his father and wants to forgive him or why would they even be there.  Would you  tie one around his neck too?

The grandfather said he would DO IT AGAIN if GIVEN THE CHANCE...

Why are you so hard up to have this little girl be around people who ripped her life apart?

Yes if he feels that he should defend his Father over his own little innocent child yes - he's guilty too!!! I do not understand how people can actually feel sorry for child molesters no matter who they are - IT IS WRONG and it should never be condoned and if you pretend they didn't do it or that "the devil made them do it" you are just as guilty and for the person who thinks that because my Husband still maintains contact with our adopted son the sex abuser is just being a good  Father -I don't agree he's just trying to pretend it didn't happen because he's embarrassed!!! He never even read the reports of the extent of his crimes - He is just about 14 and he already has had at least 23 victims!!!!This is from a polygraph test that he was given - he's been abusing  7 years to the youngest victim(My Granddaughter) he had at least 200 offenses anal and vaginal intercourse ,digital penetration, oral sex-mutual,voyeurism,exhibitionism-the same for his mentally challenged twin sister and many other animal abuses such as digital penetration with anus and vagina, cunnilingus, vaginal intercourse-this was all with a minature pony!!!!!!!?????Oh and he confessed to stealing his Father's dirty underwear and masturbating with them.  I'm sorry but there is no way that I can believe that this abuser can be cured - he doesn't even say he's sorry - he has no conscience and has never shown empathy for anyone-and no you can't just love a child one minute and then change but when you try your hardest to love and care for and nurture a child for years only to find out that he has been lying to you all this time and committing all these heinous sex crimes behind your back in your own home and feels nothing for his victims it's very hard to keep trying to love someone that unloveable!!!!And it's even harder when they are not your flesh and blood - I know I'll get crucified for that one but this adopted kid told us for years that we stole him which we didn't and has always told us that when he's old enough he's going to take his birth name back -we went through therapy trying to get him to feel attached to our Family but nothing ever worked. We raised 6 other children (from previous marriages) and we are close to all of them and our Grandchildren love us both dearly and his twin sister is very bonded with us - so what's his deal?????

Youre the self professed Christian, you go find the verse!  Its right around the same part of the Bible where Jesus says, "If youre hand causes you to sin, cut it off.  If your eyes cause you to sin, pluck them out..."

I guess you dont adhere to those Bible verses either.  I like how you pick and choose what works for your postion and what doesent.

Youre trying to make it out like this woman was in such disbelief and that is why she never told?  GIVE ME A BREAK!  Whether you believe, disbelieve, or arent sure, when a child tells you your husband just sexually assaulted her, you act!  DUH!

Nothing you can say will change that.  You can try and avoid this simple fact  with misdirection, excuses and denials but, to use a Dr. Phil quote, that dog wont hunt.
