I saw the Dr. Phil show today and was impressed by the Father who started the purity commitment with /for his daughter. I think it is AWESOME! It sounds like he is a father who really cares for his children and is making a commitment to show them he cares. It may be a once and done "cerimony" but there is a continuation of love and commitment. Wow. There is something to say for that.
I was brought up with little information on the whole sex/love thing. My Father was too busy and had other priorities in his life. We did not have a loving relationship. I married my high school sweetheart and we had premarital sex because "it felt good". Not realizing the implications for my future and his. It has taken me years to deal with my anger towards my Father and his neglect towards me. And the feelings of worthlessness. When I see something like this, I just want to praise that Father for his engaging in his childrens lives. For teaching them about sex and "True Love" (because there is a BIG difference) and for waiting for the right person who will fufill the covenant that God has planned for them. Hats off to him and his daughters.
