05/14 The Dr. Phil House: "Make My Kid a Star"

Quote From: deceivedn07

These woman are NOT "stage moms".  These woman fell under the pressure of a one time out of the ordinary string of events and you see one time out of the ordinary results.  Results that I am sure were pushed for TV.

SO TRUE, AND THE GIRL THAT WON TWO TIMES, I FEEL SHE IS JUST A ACTOR,AND HER MOM A ACTOR THAT THE SHOW PUT TOGETHER AS MOTHER DAUGHTER . JUST TO SEE HOW ALL THE MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN WOULD RESPOND. AND ALREADY ONE MOM SAID THEY WERE PLAYING FAVORITES.

I am truly happy for Gracie!  and her mom, Kiki!!!  Kiki has less emotional instability issues than the rest of the moms.  Yeah, she's a MOM to say the least but she focuses on Gracie's happiness rather than push her to do what she can't.  Plus, Gracie seems to have the Disney personality.  She appears to be a well-rounded child who is happy with life, has a passion for what she's doing, and she seems to love her mom unconditionally.  The rest, like the boys, have a love/hate relationship with their moms ~  24/7 bitch!?!? ~ what kind of song is that to make up about your own mother?

Listen to your childs wants and needs! Dont live vicariously through them!

Parents who are not a success very often try to live their "what if lives" vicariously through their talented children. Quite often a child may have no initial interest in show biz but the parent will stop at nothing to acquire the success they did not have. Many unfortunately get very competitive and will stop at nothing to get what they want. The parents in this show...well some of them anyway are no different from the fathers you see punching out each other at little league games. I say let your children live their lives. If they want to act...stay out of their way....yess help them open doors for themselves, be their agent but always make sure it is what your child wants and that you take a step back and let your child breathe! A true star will get noticed. Be patient!!!

Many push and belittle their children and seem more interested in fame (for their child or them, I'm not sure), than the self-esteem of their child.  Swearing, calling a daughter a brat?  If they aren't stage moms, who in the world do stage moms do?

My 9 year old daughter has been doing background work for nearly 2 years now.  She has been in many TV shows, movies and commercials.  She has had a principal role on "All of Us", she was kidnapped and murdered on "Shark" and has had close ups on "Invasion" and "The Santa Clause 3".  She enjoys the work and it allows me to stay home and take care of her while at the same time being able to provide her with 4 lessons of ballet a week, which she loves, and many more things.  She is building a trust account for college because she want's to be a dophin trainer.  She has no ambition to continue in this business when she is older, but if the oppertunity presents itself she wouldn't mind doing principal work again.  And if it doesn't happen she is okay with that also.  I enjoy taking her to jobs, teaching her school, (which I have been doing since she was in Kindergarten so that we could teach her about God, we are not homeschooling her becuase of this business)  She also belongs to a singing group that meets once a week and performs at nursing homes.  This is an oppertunity for her to give back.  The children are encouraged to love and tocuh the elderly.  Last Christmas she bagged 3 trash bag size bags of her stuff animals and gave them to patients at a nursing home.  I have met stage moms and they are not pretty, but I have also met some wonderful people who continue to be my friends and my daughters friends.  Not all moms are like the ones on your show.
