There's absolutely no doubt that there is "healthy way to encourage your child to do well in something that THEY like" and I that's exactly what Gracie's mother and I strive each to do with all our children -- Gracie, her brother, Warren, and Kiki's Bonus Son, Christopher.

I congratulate this mom for having healthy "boundaries" and putting her child's interest "before her own".  As parents, however, we often have to learn from our mistakes and hopefully all the parents involved in this show, including me and Gracie's mom, Kiki, will use this experience, including the upcoming shows, to learn and to become even better parents and better supporters of our children's most ardent ambitions and dreams!

Namaste!

Kurt

I agree that he has on the "extreme cases" but not only because it sells but because these mothers are damaging their children.  They are the ones who have unfulfilled dreams and ambitions and are transferring their own disappointment to their children.  These mothers need to see how they are negatively affecting their children.   I have been watching and I really liked the way it was explained as to why Gracie won the dance competition - not because she was perfect with the routine but rather because she put her all into it, seemed to enjoy it and kept dancing even if she forgot the steps.   The behaviour that these mothers exhibit is not limited to "stage moms".  I have seen it numerous times whether it be in the field of academics, athletics, singing, dancing, acting, etc.   Let the kids do their thing and enjoy it - if they happen to become a star athlete, a singing star etc. so much the better but let them become human beings first and be comfortable in their own skin

I watched the show yesterday and was disgusted with the actions and language of MOST of these parents.  We wonder how we end up with celebrities who act and talk the way they do--maybe they learned from mommy.
