shame on Veronica

Quote From: sirene1

Hy Dr. Phil, I watched part 1 of 'make my kid a star' and are you kidding me. None of these children come near to being a star. I found the show useless (for the 1st time) since I watch the show.  Maybe I am old fashioned but these kids need to be in school studying and playing outside with their friends. If they are 'star' stuff let it come later in life when the child decides by him or herself rather than by their pushy parents.  I hope I never see this kind of show again. It was a big joke!!!

I am appauled by Veronica's behaviour. I think she is the one that wants to be the star.

I feel so bad for her daughter. Shame on her and where is the Father in this? He should be

part of this also.

Shame on the parents. No wonder these children grow up with problems.

Love Dr. Phil show and so glad this is out in the open on behaviour of Mothers that want their

children in show Biz.

Actually.......a couple of the kids did have talent.  As a recording artist, I know that the longing to be in this business starts at this age and younger.  If you wait.....it's useless usually.  You must know that there were very many lessons to be learned from this show but mainly for the parents not the kids.....You must be a kid yourself not to realize that......geeeezzzzz!

I tend to agree with you that these are average children, & there is nothing wrong with that, BUT, with make-up/coaching/lessons---The Hollywood Treatment---many folks make good livings not as stars necessarily, but as working actors.

This person missed the point. This show is about what a lot of Dr. Phil's shows are about; how parents sometimes let their own ambitions get in the way of raising their children to be happy, functional adults, who are confident enough to follow their own dreams.  It's no joke- some of these parents need to hear what Dr. Phil often repeats: "It's not about you"!  Whether you think these children have talent or not is irrelevant; it's not about you, either. It's about knowing what a child needs to become the person he or she was meant to be. Every parent who watches this should look for himself or herself in these parents, whether their kids are into drama, soccer, or acedemics.  We've all got the potential to invest our own vicarious need for "stardom" in our children's activities; some people just take it farther than others. If you don't see that potential in yourself, either you're not a loving, caring parent, or you're in denial.

When my Daughter was 2 years old she had won some baby contests and everyone was telling me to get an agent for her she looked just like Shirley Temple. So I did and we went on many adutions and she did a polly pocket commercial. It's is not cheap to pay for pictures, and you have to be at a spicific place and time no matter what. We stop all of this because I did not want my Daughter to feel rejected all the time and feel insecure about her self. Today she is 22 Years old and is attending the University of Irvine and is a double major in English ahd History. I am glad that we decided to not persue Acting. Look how many of them have problems. We are very happy with the decision we made. Good luck to Gracie she is a very cute and talanted young lady, I hope all her dreams come true.

These kids should be in school and their mothers in therapy.

It sickens me to see these mother act as they were on stage.

Hi I couldn't help but read your comment on the Talented children and I couldn't agree with you more as far as making the choice when their older to decide. But when it comes to talent some of these children are talented for their age. Especually the one that won the laptop computer for winning the commercial audition. All of these children are at different levels of  talent, but all, in my opinion are very good for their age!!!
