I wear designer clothes all the time

Quote From: knoxvillian

im 18, and just about everyone knows teen years are the worst for developing your self image. when i was little i never ever cared what people thought i looked like. but once i started attending middle school everything changed. i just wanted to look good to impress people, and most of all myself. people at school constantly judged me because of my hair, outfits, shoes, anything. it was awful. after 7 years, graduating from highschool, i can say it really doesnt matter anymore. but i still do judge myself a lot and i cant help it. i only have confidence in myself when i feel i look my best.

now, im looking to go to school for hair and cosmotology. its funny that the girl who never cared what she looked like is now getting into a career that is all about what you look like. but, id like to change how the media effects us, espeically kids and teens.

it disgusts me when i see 12 year old girls walking around with tight clothes and a pound of make-up on their face. even though i do love to dress up, do my hair and make-up, i dont think young kids should need to feel like they need to dress up to impress people. because, honestly i hated when people started to judge me. it made me feel like nothing and i constantly felt like i was worth what i wore or owned.

I get them at a rummage sale or thrift store for a dime a piece!  LOL!  I used to try to be "good enough" but then I realized that this ($100.00 haircuts, tanning, the whole nine yards) was all part of a social mask and not an accurate reflection of who the person is.
