chemical imbalance?

Quote From: missbilly

These drugs do not kill!!! The drugs that kill are the illegal kind. These drugs were made for specific reasons and to help specific disorders. I can tell ya from being the parent of an adhd and nuerologically impaired son that his medication helps him to focus and learn. I also would know when a medication was not working and would call the doctor and make an appointment to talk about it and see what could be tried next. Alot of you seem to be under the impression that doctors love to medicate kids and that is not true my doctor was very cautious before he put my son on medicine we went the route with diet it didn't work, we did the behavior time out plans and they didn't then we went to school. When my son was in kindergarten he could not sit still everything going on around him was so much of a distraction that he would be up and out of his seat and then when they went out to play he wanted to be left alone and another child would not leave him be and he hit the child with the truck he had in his hand after that until they got him placed in a class that he could learn in my late husband and I went to kindergarten with him so that we could keep him in tow. They put him in an emotional support class and then started testing his academic ability and called us in for a conference and told us that our son had a chemical inbalance that not only prevents him from sitting still but also is the reason he cannot learn the way our daughter does. They also said that its the reason for his behavior when someone bothers him and he doesn't want to be bothered. Its very much a chemical imbalance. My son has been on Catapres for 11 years to control his impulsivity and he was on it only a week when we had seen the change and it was a big change he was not aggressive like he is when it wears off and he has been on Ritalin and is now on Concerta and it works too and helps him. When he does not take it I can tell and his teachers can tell and our doctor can to. Years ago we had tried everything before we put him on medication and nothing worked. So rest assured "THERE INDEED IS SUCH A THING AS CHEMICAL IMBALANCE."

One can guess or assume a chemical imbalance.....but.....who can proove it? You say that there is indeed such a thing as chemical imbalance.....well prove me wrong & show me the lab results to back up your words. Ask your doctor to show you the lab results.  I can bet ya a billion that you won't see them because they don't exist!!!!  So, without proof....real scientific proof.....then I'm sorry, I can't believe it is real. If something is not proven to be real...not just speculative or assumed....then it can not be labeled a disorder or disease. Without being labeled a disorder or disease....all of the prescreptions are illegal.  But somehow in this corrupt profession & the corrupt & paid off FDA....it happens every day through lies which infrindges on our right to informed consent.  Behavioral problems in children most definately exist & vary per child. But that doesn't make them mentally ill. It makes parenting & schooling more of a challenge & requires more attention than the "good" behaved child. It seems that our society is so busy we've lost perspective on what really matters. Drugs are the easy way out & millions of Americans are suckered into their web of deception for profit.  Doesn't anyone care that the long term effects of these drugs are not yet known??? Yeah...maybe for the right here & now they seem to be working.....putting a mask on the issue. But what about in the future? One can only "assume" what that holds with so many kids on substance II narcotics!

I just had to make my own comment here that these drugs do in fact kill...I almost died because of them.  I became suicidal and psychotic (and no not just on the antidepressants) on just about every med and combination thereof eventually...maybe not at first, but eventually even if they appeared to be 'helping' for some time period.  I never had these overwhelming type of feelings and behaviors prior to meds or today nearly 1 1/2 yrs after stopping them after my last overdose while on them.  I am what anyone would call 'normal' today and just trying to pick of the pieces of the destruction left from the mental health journey.  I just posted the site http://www.jamestorlakson.com/ created by the father of a girl who died due to the suicidal/psychotic feelings and behaviors these cause.  Are you going to tell him that these drugs don't kill?  Are you going to tell that to the loved ones who gathered in a rally in Washington DC at the end of August to protest the effects of these drugs?  Are you going to tell that to the parents who testified at the FDA hearings and ended up being instrumental in the black box warnings.  Are you going to say that to all the ones who will potentially testify before the FDA for the same warnings for adults (Now that the FDA issued a public warning in July)?  And there are more out there....  I ended up on the cardiac floor for 3 days from these meds...I have permanent scars on my arms....please don't say that they don't kill or have the potential to do so.  They do and more is being learned about this all the time.  It will be exposed over time...it is a process...just like healing...it takes time.
