Trying to Quit Smoking?

Quote From: mbynumrn

I have smoked for 34 years.  I started when I was 15 with some friends.  Thought I had to fit in.  I have been a nurse for 27 years and have seen firsthand the devastating effects of emphysema.  I also watched my uncle die from this after smoking 4 packs a day for years.  I am starting to feel the effects of this crazy habit and want desperately to quit.  I have half attempted several times.  I am going to try the patch again and work on changing my thinking about smoking.  I am going to try to rid myself of the thought pattern in my brain where the longtime habit is embedded.  I am going through a rough divorce and the stress is very high.  But I think being able to talk about the smoking here will help.  I have great friends at work that are very supportive, that will help also.  So if I write lots of messages here don't think I'm crazy, I just need lots of support.  Good luck and prayers to everyone here that is also trying to get rid of this devastating habit.

I have not tried  "Chantix", but have heard good results with it. Everything you can prepare yourself with to help, will make it easier. I used the Wellbrutrin, and the inhaler. And coming back and forth to the board when I would have a rough moment. Post often, it helps take some of the pressure off.  I also smoked about 35 years too, and about pack and half a day.
