11/24 Great School Debate

Quote From: gtrudeau

Anyone can be a positive role model in one way or another.  You, an atheist, may be a very honest person with a strong work ethic.  But I, a Christian, do believe in a life after death and I want DD to experience eternal life, not eternal death.  I do not want what I believe to be evil to be presented as good and acceptable to DD.

Be honest and admit that you wouldn't want me to attempt to indoctrinate your children with Catholic positions regarding homosexuality.  Why should I allow the reverse for my DD?

Actually my daughter will be taught all the major religions views on homosexuality and their reasons behind it.

I don't understand this kind of thinking...even though I was raised with it. How sincere is a religion or faith really going to be if a child is having it drilled in from day one and forward. Your kids will most likely grow up to be Catholic, do all the Catholic things...because you are. And if you were Muslim, Mormon, Jewish...the same thing would happen Some might "stray" as I have from my parents religion...but most will not.

This is getting dangerously close to a religious discussion...so to keep things from being deleted you are more than welcome to come to the religious debate board if you want to continue this discussion. I just don't want our posts to be deleted for being off topic. (If you look under "News and Current Events" and sort by "popularity" you will see a board called "Debating Different Religious Beliefs".)

BTW, an atheist does not believe in life after death...that is so very true. But I do believe life in this world continues AFTER my death, so I want to do my best to make my space in it good, peaceful, loving and accepting to all, as long as no one is harmed. That is the legacy I hope to leave future generations of humans.
