I was sitting here watching the show in tears because of this Dr.'s ignorant and insensitive comments and attitude. Pocket Pal??? Are you kidding?
I really felt like I needed to comment to you because I have a 5 year old disabled little girl named Chloe. She has hyrocephalus, cerebral palsy, cordically blind, tube fed, and is about on a 3-4 month old mental age. She is completly dependent and can do NOTHING for herself. I really don't think people can comprehend the challenges we are presented with every day....Lifting, bathing, dressing, and transporting. Chloe is only 5 and weighs close to 50 pounds, and getting bigger every day.
And these are issues that me and my husband deal with on a daily basis. Now I am feeling nervous and scared about even mentioning this "Ashley Treatment" to one of her doctors, because of the reaction I may get. I applaud ASHLEY'S parents, they were brave and did the best they could for their SPECIAL ANGEL. Chloe is my world, my whole life revolves around her and her needs. And I wouldn't change that for anything......
But I do believe Dr. Masterson owes all of us an apology...maybe she would like to get a glypse in the day of the life of one of us, walk in my shoes for I day. Maybe she would like to make the decisions and sacrifices we make all the time. Then let her say who is selfish and only trying to make their own life convient.

I have never been in your situation at all,but I totally disagreed with the Dr.'s comments. She said she would "climb over mountains to take care of her son".I think it's easy to make those types of comments when you've never been in those shoes. I assume her son is normal. If you want to ask about the "Ashley Treatment" then ask. Ask until you can find a doctor who will help you. It's nothing to be ashamed of.(IMO) To me it's just finding a way to be able to take care of your child as long as you can without having to institutionalize them. I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with it.
