10/07 The Latest Debates

Quote From: kairshea

That is why it is called a PUBLIC school...God should have no place in it.

There are many religions that go to PUBLIC schools...some believing in God, some not, some believing in another diety or none at all.

And kids aren't committing suicide because condoms are being distributed in schools.  They are committing suicide because NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT!!!  (ie. where to go for help...what to do about the feelings that I am having...)  School becomes a perfect place to address these issues because you can reach such a large number of students; however, parents must be involved too.

And it isn't like schools are GIVING condoms to every kid.  They are available for students, but they are not pushed upon every child with the assumption that they will naturally be having sex because they are a teenager.

Education is KEY!  Ignorance is not an excuse.  "Just Say No" has been proven to fall on deaf ears.  I think abstinance needs to be one part of sex education, along with other options for those students who will not follow that philosophy.

You are right it is public school so why are drugs, sex and crime in public schools!  There are also people who don't beleive in sex before marriage, in drugs and other items.  Everybody has the right to beleive what they want but to make exclusion of GOD is not right but that is my opinion.

Let me clear something else before I forget, regarding the suicide I didnt' make myself clear last time. I know they are not commiting suicide because of the distribution of condoms in schools. They are doing becuase they are missing God or a spiritual individual in what ever religion they believe in.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!  GOD should have no place in public schools BUT condoms should!

As a parent of two small boys, I would like the opportunity to raise my child with my beliefs and if they are not allowed to pray aloud to God because they are in a  public school, they should not be given condoms by this same school without my consent!

Why is it that our society is so willing to let others raise their children. If a public school wants to discuss sex education and tell kids what options are available to them that is one thing but to make condoms available should be up to the parents.

Yeah, and the average test scores in public education have been on a consistent decline ever since He was removed from the public school system through the Supreme Court ban on school prayer. I somehow don't think that was a mere coincidence. As He was quoted in the movie Chariots of Fire, "He who honors Me, I will honor." For the record, "Just Say No" was for drugs, not sex. Education is highly over-rated as a panacea for the ills of this country and mankind in general. Some of the stupidest and most intellectually and morally corrupt people in this country are its most highly educated. Kids follow their parents example, not what someone else preaches at them--at least until they get to college, that is!

Who are you to say where God's place is?? God is God, not you. If you want to keep going around saying "God's place isn't here," fine. But remember, that isn't your decision, it isn't my decision, and it isn't the government's decision. HE IS LORD!
