09/05 Family Follow-up

Quote From: ydoiwatch

Clearly, Christy is mentally ill. I found the follow-up show to be quite upsetting, actually. I don't think that Dr. Phil should waste his time (or mine) producing a show to answer the unfounded accusations of clearly disturbed people. (Even in the name of "fairness") Her whining that she needed Dr. Phil to meet with her personally and privately was the icing on the cake. Folks, it's all about a really messed up woman needing public validation to quiet the demons in her private life.

In the future, I think that it would be advisable for the Dr. Phil staff to screen guests a bit more thouroughly. Folks already under the care of a therapist should be approached warily. I don't like tuning in to be taken on a ride by a mental case. I just hope her sister is able to pull together her marriage and her family...good luck with that Stacy.

Let's be clear here.  Stacy went to Christy in the first place because of her finding porn in her husband's possession.  You will never convince me that abuse is NOT taking place in that home until I see her husband strapped to a lie detector machine.  As a victim of sexual abuse by a family member, I can tell you that I will deny, deny, deny to this day (35 years later) if confronted about it.  Putting your children on TV to deny that their father is a pervert does not convince me one bit.

I think Dr. Phil did this follow-up for several reasons -

one - to show that there are unfounded accusations made all the time - fso or the sake of the entire family and other families, It might prevent some other angry person from doing what Christy did when the state's results weren't what she wanted them to be.

two - the accusation against Stacey's family were made on national tv - they live in a VERY small town and these accusations have severely disrupted their lives and he obviously felt they needed as public a redemption as was the accusations.

three - Stacey's kids needed a resolution onthis issue and they got to have their say as well.

Christy just needs to give it up. First of all grow up! We all have child hood stories, and we all grow up and get over them. Hell, my father abused me day in and day out, I did tell people and back then  everyone believed my father.  Now that I have 3 children of my own, I grew up and knew what happened to me I didn't want to happen to my own. Now in schools if a child even has any suspisous bruise on them, they call it in. And right they should. But when Christy has already called everyone, and no one found anything, get over yourself sweet heart, you are now just hurting all the children involved.

I totally agree with your assessment of Christy. I think she is insane and its a good thing she sees a therapist. Anyone who could torture their own flesh and blood the way she has and who can make false allegations should be put away.

This story was very disturbing to me, Christy is clearly mentally ill.

She is also quite rude telling the viewers that she "doesnt watch the show" ....her false accusations proved what a complete lunatic she is.

I agree that the show was upsetting, I cant believe Dr Phil had to validate himself to someone who truly belongs in an institution. Christy is actually the abusive one treating those poor children like that, she is a disgrace.

Kudos to you Dr Phil ...you did the right thing and make sure she doesn't get a hold of your personal cell phone number!

What it comes down to is accountablity.  Her and people like her  who create a web of lies and manipulation just to get attention need to know that what they do to cause serious damage to peoples lives in the way that she did to her own family will be looked at and made accountable for every little untruth that is told. Whether she believes in her soul that what she was saying was true she really had no way of knowing and should have backed off after all the investigations came up with nothing. Her involvement with her sisters children was irresponsible. Dr. Phil did a great job at trying to ease her deluded ideas and however unsettling the show was, it proved that people like her can be shut down and hopefully the damage done to her sisters family can be healed in time now that they have some closure.
