breastfeeding in public and LLL

Quote From: mrsmedic

she means those of us who believe in child led weaning, when our kidlets wean themselves. Sometimes around the age of 3 or  4.

La Leche League is not a club. La Leche League is a non-profit organization that reaches more than 300,000 people every month with breastfeeding information, education, and support. There is a network of 3,000 Groups and 8,000 Leaders who offer information and encouragement to mothers who want to breastfeed. Leaders VOLUNTEER their time, money, efforts and compassion. There are many countries and people who breastfeed beyond a year. The WHO reccomends that you breastfeed for "atleast 2 years". The AAP currently changed their reccomendation from 'up to a year' to the more current "ALEAST a year and then there after as mutually desired." Breastfeeding beyond a year is NOT just done in developing nations like on the continent of Africa. For more scientific information regarding extended breastfeeding see Kathyrn Dettwyler's website. She has researched this topic for many years and has much good information. PEACE!

Hi

I was being a smart a**, with that ?

I have 2 healthy girls ages 9 and 4.

My oldest breastfed for 3 1/2 years and my 2nd for 2 years.

I just did a speech for a class and it was on breastfeeding.

I left out parts of the quote. Actually it is recommended to breastfeed for the first 12 months and thereon as long as both mutually desire.

Even our GOVERNMENT knows the benefits of extended breastfeeding.

Also- the standard for growth charts and such for babies is based on a breastfed child. THATS a big change.

I had to hear crap from my own mother about my oldest. "you're STILL doing THAT?"......as you can tell, she was not my influence. My aunt was. She was big in the LLL and breastfed my cousin for 5 years, so I had the one person that mattered in my court.

I think everyone that wants to whine and moan about us going in a stall, should eat their own meals on the floor of a nasty public restroom...Better yet, just roll that bottle of formula all on the floor first before you give it to your own babies.

Its bad enough that wome are choosing the lazy way by popping a bottle in. Not to mention all of the health benefits their kids are missing out on.

The research PROVES it raises an IQ.

Put it this way. There are over 100 ingredients in breast milk NOT found in formula (can't duplicate that)

This post is really directedt all of the women who gripe about not wanting to see a breast. Jeez, what do you think that they are there for?  IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT......DONT LOOK. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. AND QUIT YOUR GRIPING. THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE TO WORRY ABOUT.

THANK GOD BREASTFEEDING IS NOT ONE OF THEM!!!!!

FORMULA IS BASED ON COWS MILK . ARE OUR BABIES COWS????????????  NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE, GET A GRIP.

JEN

a 100% breastfeeder and PROUD of it!~!!!!
