10/07 The Latest Debates

Quote From: kat62400

As a mother who chose not to breastfeed, I definitely feel that breastfeeding in public is not something I care to see. Special restrooms & mother areas were created so that the public would not have to see exposed breasts during their day to day life. These rooms offer the mother & baby a private area to not only address feedings, but to be intimate as well. I do not enjoy having an areola in my eyesight while I am eating lasagna, and I can't believe that it is that hard to cover yourself with a blanket if you have to do it in public. Thanks!

I'm so sorry, where do you live again?  I have never, NEVER seen any "Special restroom & mother area" anywhere I have ever lived!  Besides, how about if you are out eating lasagne and see an areola then take your  food into the "special restroom" to eat.  I don't care to see you eating so put a blanket over YOUR head!

You have to be kidding me. Maybe I dont care to see how you eat in public, maybe you smack or have terrible table manners does tha give me the right to put a blanket over your head or ask you to leave? These Special Restrooms and mother areas, do you think they are magically built at every public place?? I dont know of any in my town, and I REFUSE to go to the bathroom and feed my child. If there where these "SPECIAL MOTHER AREAS" I would much prefer to feed her there, I'm sure there would be a comfotable chair or other nursing mothers to talk about the issue at hand. Would you go to the restroom and eat?? Obviously you made a choice not to breastfeed, shouldnt I be given the same courtesy to decided if I want to breastfeed in public or not. As a mother that chose to Breastfeed I AM VERY OFFENDED THAT YOU WOULD BE LOOKING AT MY AREOLA, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. I WILL NOT STARE AT YOU WHILE YOU EAT AND YOU DONT STARE AT ME EITHER. THANKS

and I am sorry that you do not love your children enough to do what is best for them. I get disgusted when i see any child over age 1 with a bottle... I know how it affects there teeth but I am sure you dont care how I feel seeing that just as I do not care how you feel seeing my baby growing healthy and smart... AND for the record my breast has never been exposed in public while nursing my baby and if you are staring at me hoping to get a glimpse of a quarter sm of breat tissue then perhaps you are the one with the perversion and the problem....

Maybe it's because you've never done it that you don't understand. Have you ever tried to cover your baby with a blanket while you were bottle feeding him? My daughter won't tolerate a blanket; she just pulls it down and drops it on the floor.

I do my best to be descrete, but I'm not going to feed her in the bathroom... ICK! I'll barely go to the bathroom in a public restroom, I don't want my child in that dirty environment. I have only ever seen ONE mother area in my town... and that was in a Babies-R-Us.

Everyone keeps talking about rights on this issue. Well according to the state of Nevada, I have the right to feed my child in ANY public place. Anywhere I am allowed to be, I am allowed to feed my baby. That's the law.
