why should the biological father pay for a time he probably didn't even know he had a child? All laws indicate that support cannot start until someone has notice (excepting federal laws for medicaid, TANIFF, etc... in which the parents are liable for the arrearages no matter when they receive notice).
I agree that child support should be immediately stopped. If just to punish the mother, I would agree that her repaying the support by dad would be great....but wouldn't it be just taking money from the child? The laws should be changed to have the mother repay the dad when the children are grown and out of college (if they go to college).
However, the real issue is the child. Her emotional needs supercede the bickering about money. The mother can raise the children on her income and the income of her new husband. But the child needs to keep the emotional bond with her dad. She should have never known about this issue. Shame on the mother and father for talking to her about it. I understand the father was acting out of anger, but he needs to apologize to the child.
