Dr. Phil stated that he was appalled that she was not more offended while watching the portrayals and testamonies of the first accuser. I disagree with him. She is beyond her initial reaction (hurt and in disbelief) and has gone into anger and defense mode. I would feel the same way she does at this point. So if she sounds like a lawyer who is making her points she is definitely in that stage.
It is very sad that this could be possible. That the school, although trying to look out for the students, moved so quickly and were so convinced these boys were telling the truth. It throws a whole new perspective on accusers and victims. If these boys are not telling the truth and it can be proven they need to have a severe punishment. They don't get to go around and ruin professionals' lives IF it is not true.
Most people would be against it but I say put cameras in the classrooms and have no teacher/student contact outside of the classroom. Period.
Thank you for expressing my thoughts about Dr. Phil's reaction. I totally agree with you after having been through several life altering challenges. You become almost numb to the pain. She is now in the clear her name mode. What can these boys possibly say now that she hasn't reacted to in the past? I thought she handled it the only way she could now. Seeking to prove the holes in his story. She's done all of the crying and declarations of innocence. What did that get her so far? Now all three of these men children have been shown to be lying.
Dr. Phil really came off badly with his comment today. You see -- no one is perfect. Not even Dr. Phil. You could see this young man squirming, his Adam's apple jumping , and his eyes darting back and forth when someone challenged his lies. Most of us firgured that out before we heard of the deceptive results of his test. Why didn't Dr. Phil -- he's the trained professional. I guess he felt he was better equipped to correct her grammar. To make matters worse toward the end of the show, he turned to the young, confused man and talked of his frustration. Oh boy...I bet he's frustrated. He and his friends did not look too good after the show.
Dr. Phil, I personally know a male teacher (I'm a teacher also although in Canada) who was setup by a female student. He lost everything, including his wife. Years later the student found God and confessed that she had been upset by a failing grade and had totally made everything up.
