11/15 A Daughter in Danger? Part 2

Quote From: darkkiwi

Would everyone be so upset if Abdullah was a guy named Pierre in France?  Granted he comes from a different culture, but these things can work if both families are supportive.  I wouldn't want my child in a war zone, but I don't think Abdullah is the devil incarnate like it seems he's being portrayed.  Couldn't this be as simple as two young people falling in love and wanting to be together no matter the obstacles.  Didn't Shakespeare write about this very thing in Romeo & Juliette?  I was married to an Israeli and now am dating a Bosnian Muslim.  Islam can be positive as long as the religious person isn't an extremist, same as in Christianity or Judaism.  I wish for all involved happiness, and a long life in peace.  Salaam, Shalom.

In the USA ISLAM has religious freedoms; but NOT is ISLAMIC countries.

You can date whoever you want in the U.S; but you WILL BE KILLED for dating in Islamic countries.

DONT thing all countries have this "freedom to be loose"  that you have.

The situation discussed today was NOT hypothetical.

there is a very big difference between a Pierre from France and an Abdulah from "Palestine".  and if you were married to an Israeli you should be well aware of this!!!  There is also a big difference between a Bosnian muslim and a palestinian one.  With all due respect I wonder if you are one of these girls who guys marry for a green card and once they get it pass her on to the next one and whi is just too naive to realize she is being used but believes she is really in a new once-in-a-life-time romance.  Unfortunately, I know some girls like that and you sound just like them!

Romeo & Juliet Compared With Real Life

First of all, the thing with “Romeo and Juliet” is that Shakespeare never meant for this to be a real love story, despite the “force and power of love” theme.  Shakespeare MEANT for this classic play to be a tragedy when it wrote it for a good reason.  Yes, Abdullah and Katherine are exactly like Romeo and Juliet, aren’t they?  And we all know what happened to the latter couplet, right?  Abdullah and Katherine’s relationship is destined to end more tragically than that if the authorities do not get her away from this man and fast.

And speaking of which, some critics (I’m not one of them) may argue that Romeo and Juliet’s love was not for real, much like Abdullah and Katherine.  In the first place, it would have been unrealistic for Romeo to forget about Rosaline completely the moment he first saw Juliet.  Secondly, at the point of their first and second major kisses during the Capulet ball, Romeo and Juliet had known each other for only five minutes, practically, and they didn’t even know each other’s names, or (in Juliet’s case) that they were from feuding families.  These critics would claim that it’s not how love works in real life these days.  Kind of like Katherine meeting Abdullah on MySpace, chatting with him for about ten minutes, then she decided it was true love.  Perhaps Abdullah, very much like Romeo, was in love with the idea of being in love, rather than Katherine herself.  Unless I looked at this man and just knew he was right for her (which is highly unlikely) I would be shocked to death if this were my daughter.  It wouldn’t matter if he were from the Middle East, or Toronto, or from a ranch in Texas, or even Buenos Aires, Argentina or Sydney, Australia!

At least Romeo never thought of viciously killing Juliet out of spite and hatefulness, or calling her a bitch, or controlling her, if he was that into her.  Sadly, this might not be true for Katherine, especially since Abdullah is doing the last two things to her that I mentioned.  This wouldn’t even be murder-suicide for the purpose of saving their love; it would be just plain MURDER!  I, too, will be hoping that we see Katherine away from him and on Dr. Phil in one piece.

You know i think that you are right BUT he has lied to her parents, he has beat her, he has verbally abused her.....now tell me you wouldn't be worried or upset with him and think that he is the "devil" so you say.  I think it is so wrong when the women put up with being verbally abused by their men or being controlled....It is ridiculous.  I just dont think Katherine realizes what she is doing.  I was young and thought I was in love when I was 18 and me and my bf thought we were going to get married.  Now i am married to someone else and cant stand my ex.  So i dont think she knows what she wants.  It was an easy way out for her!

First of all, all i have to say is that this girl is brainwashed and she was sucked in by him because i was in the same situation for 2 years. I met a Moroccan man that just made me believe that he was the best and that everything he was saying was true and that he was the only one that understood me. I am 18 an i met him when i was about 15 and a half. He basically changed the way i thought and i was always soo grumpy and i was always cursing at my parents and not listening to them at all. What is different about my situation is that my parents did not know that i was talking to him or how old he was. He is 17 years my senior and i almost married him., He had me convinced that it was okay to marry at a young age and have children and stay at home and take care of the household. He even convinced me that i do not need to go to college because he will be making enough money to support the family. Thank God Almighty that I was smart enought not to do anything without telling my parents on my 18 birthday. When they found out what was going on my father forbid me to see him and that was it. If Katherines mom does not convince her to get back to the  U.S. she will never see  her again. As many have pointed out, once she is in their country, they will decide whether or not she can leave and i can say another thing, as soon as they are married, they will have children, IMMEDIATELY. The best way to talk to Katherine is to lie and tell her that they approve just to get  her back on U.S. soil . Once she is here, just tell her about what she could have done and if she is smart, she will realize on her own what she could have gotten herself into. Also, replying to this :

I am Bosnian and i can tell you that most bosnian muslims are not fundamentalists but there are some, but in all my years that i have been associated with arab men, i have noticed that their women are secluded, they wear islamic clothing, and they have a new child almost every year and they do not have any rights. Arab men do treat their wives better than american women because of the way arabs think of americans.

I would be upset if he was a Muslim from France, Spain, England, US, Germany, you name it.  Muslims are crazy.  And yes, I guess I'm a racist for saying it, but everyone knows they are, so why deny it.
