I once asked this question. Apparently, in order for a car to accelerate well enough to be useful it needs more power, such power can also translate into increased speed. Additionally, some of these cars were originally manufactured as racecars and they are beautiful pieces of engineering. My granddad has a Corvette which I absolutely love.
A car is a tool. You cannot blame maufactuers for creating good ones. It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure safe driving. To do so would be analogous to blaming a firearms manufactuer for a firearms related homicide. Firearms are designed for display, self defense and hunting. People misuse them. Cars are designed for display and transportation. People misuse them.
No, companies are not to blame here. The fault lies with the parents and children. The problem would likely end if laws were strengthed so that individuals caught driving recklessly lost their licenses for five years and the cars were sold at auction. The money could go to fund emergency responders and resources.
