10/07 The Latest Debates

Quote From: momofgabe

I am really disappointed that Dr Phil didn't even touch on what is GOOD about nursing. He told the nursing mother to "do what I can to get along," but never told the woman against nursing in public why women should nurse. I've never seen a nursing mother "put it in someone's face." As a member of LeLecheLeague, I can say that this is a group of dedicated, loving mothers whom want the best for all children. While I nursed for 14 months, many others nurse for years. What I love about LLL is that they would have supported me if I wanted to nurse for 2 months or 2 years (and beyond). They are the epitome of what is good about nursing. With the RIGHT information, they can educate mothers and help them to nurse ANYWHERE!

I felt the show lacked many things. Why is breast feeding so important? Why is it not always possible to cover with a blanket? What is offending  shelly? What is acceptable to people like her as discrete? I truly feel this was a poorly planed debate meant to cause controversy with two people so prepared to fight they couldn't get over themselves to talk about the real issues. I wish this show would have been more educational instead of a cat fight.

I agree completely. LLL is amazing and they sometimes get a bum rap for being "pushy'. This is so far from the truth they are among the most accepting people I know. It is the formula industry that is pushy. Dr. Phil could do a whole week of shows on BF! And judging by the huge response on this board, he should run it during sweeps!
