10/07 The Latest Debates

Quote From: virgoe87

well feed them with your nipples then! the debate is doing it IN PUBLIC are you in public all day?? No I don't think so People the debate is about breastfeeding in public.  Try feeding them before you leave home. And to the lady that showed a picture of herself breastfeeding her baby in a hospital room.  You have gotten off the topic, the discussion is not about breastfeeding your baby, its about doing it where everyone can see it.

Perhaps my baby is not hungry before I leave the house!

Again, are you a mother?  Besides, as I have stated many times on this board...you can't actually SEE anything.  The baby's head is in the way.  You just KNOW that the baby is sucking and that's what people are uncomfortable with!

BEFORE we leave home? You do realize how often babies have to eat, right? Does it matter if we are in public all day? One trip to the grocery store can easily take enough time that I will have to feed my baby again before I get home. You must not have any children, otherwise you would know that.  So I would wait till I got home again before I could feed my baby? Well, then, I feel like saying you can't eat while you are out of your house either, sorry. What on earth would make you think that we care so much about what you think that we would completely alter the pattern of our lives for you? NOBODY I know would submit to someone else's will so much that they would drive all the way home before they would eat.  Besides what you are suggesting,
what EVERYONE is suggesting that is saying women should leave when nursing, is tantamount to segregation.  We may leave the room to go to the bathroom in this culture, but we do not leave the room to eat. Neither should our babies. There is NO REASON to do so. Nursing is sanitary, healthy, and LAWFUL.  WHO CARES if it's not attractive?

You obviously don't have kids.  Children, especially newborns eat every 1.5 to 2 hours.  Should mother be locked up until their children can go longer between feeding.  Your comment "Try feeding them before you leave home" shows that you truly needed to be educated on this matter before you entered in on this discussion.

lol, that's funny.  Babies get hungry at the most inconvenient times.  You can't always plan for it, no matter how hard you try.

Yet another strong opinion from someone who has NO KIDS, HASN"T BREAST FED OR BOTTLE FED.

Breastfed babies tend to eat more often than formula fed babies. Early on...every couple of hours. which makes your theory tough. Timeing also starts from the start of the feeding to the start of the next feeding. So lets say you start at 12:00..it can take 20 min to 1/2 hour depending (with burbing the baby)..then the baby may poop or spit up...you change the baby...then may have to even change the baby's clothes..then get the baby in the car seat and drive to where you are going...all along you have to pick up another child from school, run to the Drs. office, and pick up milk on the way home? What is your suggestion. Even if you feed the baby before you leave the house...you will probably have to feed the baby while you are out. In this day and age...you have to leave the house...and you have to feed your baby on the run at times.

Most mothers I know don't look for the most visible place to feed their babies  and say look at my boobies...Most women look for a quiet place...but it is not as easy as you think especially when one doesn't exist...and someday you may understand that.

the point of my picture

was simply to show that NO MATTER where I am you will NEVER see my breast unless you are on top of me which if you were that would just be rude.

So I am on topic and I proved my point in that you cannot see one little speck of my breast while I am breastfeeding. I just happened to use a picture of myself in a hospital room but if you would like I can post one of me out in public.

Thank you for your comment but I proved the point I was trying to make so don't tell me I am of topic
