Your msg struck a cord with me, so much so that I actually registered to reply.  My son also has an ostemy and he wears the baggy pants because they are more comfortable than than the tighter fitting jeans and yes, they help hide the bag.  He's not wearing them around his butt, but they are baggy.  He also likes cargo pants and, because we live near a military base, he can find old BDU and ACU pants.  Those are nice because they have adjustable tabs on the side.  He's even taken to wearing boxer shorts because they aren't as tight around the stoma as briefs.  Good Luck to your family.
