It's easy to say that the sister, Maria, should just "get custody" of those kids. It's not like going to the pound and picking out a pet and walking away with it. DCS is not so willing to just give kids to other family members..even when that SEEMS to be the most common sense solution.
None of us knows what Maria's situation is....perhaps she lives in a tiny, one bedroom apartment, or in a condo where they don't allow children....you don't know, so don't be so quick to decide that that is where those kids belong. DCS has certain requirements that have to be met before they will turn over a child to anyone....a certain amount of bedrooms is just one of them.
We don't know the whole story, so we can't just assume anything. You know the old adage about "assume" don't you? "When you just assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME."
