Give this family a break people

Quote From: toniecw

One of the things that Dan kept a saying was that he wasn't given a chance to explain, God leading him towards the decisions that he chose.

I believe that we all have found ourselves with life changes that we believed were good decisions.  I have had a few myself...

I also have no regrets for any of them as well.  For each of them taught me valuable life learning lessons.

I too came from a very impoverished background...13 bedroom colonial farm house probably built back during the Civil War...a house that one didn't have to go outside to measure the temperature, for it was a blowing inside through the holes and such in the structure.

A time when out door bathroom facilities were the norm, and running water the abnormal...so like Dr. Phil...I too can relate to the family that was shown today.

I don't believe that this show gave a bad rap to home schooling...for these children on top of being devout Christians...which is a good thing...they are also happy children and that to me speaks louder than the words of this father's, mother in law, father in law and sister.

I too am a follower of God's Will.  Just because I am doesn't mean that all things that I follow will be all wine and roses...sometimes we are given tests in the mist of our divine revelations...

Those are my thoughts on what you wrote.

I know that I will be responding to others here...for you were the start of this dialog page...

We Are All Blessed

Nice to hear your comments Tonie.  I don't know where so many people think they can judge this family.  I have spent yrs. working on a national study regarding children and families, and have spent hours in homes all over the U.S.  This family is not doing anything wrong.  Those children are not starving.  The family is very close.  I have seen terrible things in other homes.   Apparently many people don't realize how many families are living in very bad environments.  I have seen children have nothing to eat, or terrible junk food to eat continuously in a dirty home watching TV and all the violence it has.  This family is getting out in the outdoors, spending time with each other, spending time reading the bible and what God's plan is for us.  The children are not obese like many children in many homes in this country and being cared for by daycare providers instead of their own parents.

I raised 5 children and a friend of mine raised 8 children.  We both can relate to this family as well.  We have experienced many hardships, but we both have very hard working, happy, responsible, healthy adult children now.  Not everyone can say that anymore.  Our children don't do drugs and alcohol, gamble, over-spend and get in-debt.  They know what is important in life, and many other people look up to them for having such a strong faith.

This family will survive because they have faith.  Janna has faith in her husband and her marriage.  Children are a true blessing, and this family is truly blessed.  There are many people in the country right now losing their homes daily because of this terrible economy.  This family will survive.  Let us all pray for this family and all families, that they make good sound choices in raising their children to become happy and responsible adults.

Just a thought people......I remember having to rent a terrible home after I had to leave my alcoholic husband.  I remember having to go to sleep with so many layers of clothing on since I did not have heat  in my bedroom, but I was so thankful to have a bed to sleep in after sleeping on a wooden rocker until I could afford a bed.  I was so thankful to have a roof over my head, even though I had to bail water out of the sink after washing dishes, since it would not go down the drain.  Oh, but that really was nothing!!!   So many people are so spoiled.

Living a happy life and always have time for others,

Renee'
