who's double standard?

Quote From: outsider1

What I find hilarious about breastfeeding mothers is that if there were a topless woman on television the mothers would pull their children away from the screen so they won't be subjected to that kind of thing yet it's okay for children to see a breast with a baby attached to it.  Is it just me or does that sound like a double-standard?

Actually, I wouldn't pull my nine year old away. But even so there is still a big difference usually.  You rarely see a woman naked onscreen that isn't naked for sexual purposes. Because, after all, that's all women's bodies are good for right? Keeping them pretty for the entertainment of men??  ANd I would NEVER sheild my son from looking at a lactating woman (unless, of course, she requested me to). My son is raised understanding that this is a necessary and important part of life and that the human body in nude form is not INHERENTLY sexual. NOR should he view women or their body parts as objects merely for his sexual pleasure.

Actually, I am a breastfeeding mother and if my children saw a topless woman on TV I would simply discuss it with them if they had questions.  People run around half naked as it is, so why should people be offended by a nursing baby?  What nobody has really answered through this whole thing is what is indecent?  Everyone has a different idea of decency.  I know that my breast is not exposed when I breastfeed my child except for possibly a small sliver of skin at the top.  Is that too much?  How about only a small amount of the side?  Is that too much?  How many people have seen a fully exposed breast when someone was nursing in a public area?  I have actually seen women wearing bikini tops as shirts which reveal way more of the breast than I ever have nursing!
