02/21 Family Court Battles

First let me say, i watch the show everyday and think Dr Phil usually has a real handle on his topics and is right on the money most of the time, But..Is it me, or was the grandma in this story really shed in a bad light? Sound bites in between commercials showed her laughing when it seemed inapproriate to be doing so etc.. , The grandmother was on the stage alone with her daughter and husband. I think the brother should have been allowed to sit with her. The daughter was extremely hateful to her mother. If she could be sending off smoke from her head she would have been. You can't tell me she hasn't influenced her son in his feelings for his grandmother. What a shame. I think grandparents are such an important part of the family dynamic. I hope they can work things out, but it didn't seem like they would be able to. I' m not a grandmother yet, but I can' imagine the heartbreak of not being a part of my grandchild's life.

grandparents are only important if they are not making trouble for the family. omg

are you kidding that you think some injustice was done to that lunatic??  in my

opinion dr. phil was much too easy on the grandmother who clearly lied through

the whole show.   why would the grandmother be so heartbroken when they said

she doesnt see her other grandkids and it is clear she never sent gifts to her grandson.

just because someone is related to you doesnt mean they should be involved with

your kids life.  i think this grandmother is a liar and a loon!!

I understand that a grandparent can be an important part of a child's life.  The important part of that however is that a grandparent must be a POSITIVE influence first in order to be that.  This woman is demanding time with a grandson who wants no part of her!!  How outrageous is that?  She is literally forcing herself on him when he clearly said he doesn't want to see her and blames HER for the problems in his family.  For the record, I don't believe he was coerced to say that by his mother or father.  He seemed knowledgable of the situation, in fact too knowledgable, which tells me his grandmother has been feeding him a bunch of bull.  She is clearly out to spite her daughter, which stems from her childhood when her mother stole her boyfriend!  How outrageous is that as well?  And she had the audacity to deny it!  It's not up for discussion lady, it's fact!!!  You married a much younger man that your daughter clearly dated when she was 14.  No wonder she has a little animosity towards you.  What did you expect her to say.... good goin mom?!?  She needs to get a clue, but more importantly, the courts need to.  Whoever gave her visitation rights should be thrown off the bench!

One last remark unrelated to this story:   Gloria Allred is an idiot!  She needs to stay out of issues that she clearly has no good insight on.  Some of you may remember the story of the man who was forced to pay child support for a child that wasn't his when his ex-wife dooped him into thinking it was for years.  Gloria backed the ex-wife by saying the same gibberish she spewed today:  That it's about the best interest of the child.  That's all she ever says.  What she fails to ever realize is that adults do have rights too.  In this story, if the 13 y/o boy says he doesn't want to see his grandmother, then respect his wishes!  It's not up to a court to decide for him.

The show didn't "make" Rita look bad, Rita made Rita look bad.  It's obvious you take a pro-grandmother stance no matter how demented and pathological the grandmother is.  Buy a clue.

1) Dr phil should have stayed on Rita for some of the things she said that made her obviously guilty of lying.  Rita was like a robot up there on stage, just repeating, "no", "I never said that", "no no no", etc.

  a) She lied about the year (1990) she gave gifts to a grandchild that wasn't even born yet, and she lied about her daughter owning a Cadalac -that was obvious to anyone w/ ears.

b)  She lied about her "non restraining order" against her sister.  Phil asks her if she filed a restraining order, she says (robotically) "no".  Then Rita says the "Judge" was the one to file the papers to keep her sister away from her, it was the JUDGE not RITA, this woman belongs in a nut house.

c)  When Phil was reading off the things Rita was accused of, she said, "no" to something that she had to back up and admit she did do.

d)  Rita says she never had an affair w/ her daughter's ex boyfriend, never carried on w/ him, etc, etc. Then HOW THE HELL DID YOU END UP MARRIED TO YOUR DAUGHTER"S EX BOYFRIEND - Bi#&h

e)  Cole has a place in your bed?  If that doesn't show this nut's true colors, I don't know what will.

I know lie detectors are not proof positive, but in this case (its a show not court), I wish Dr Phil would have done one before the taping of this show, then reveal the proof he needed on stage.
