03/07 Dr. Phil Now: Sex Offenders Next Door

Quote From: babyblues204

Being a victim of a brutal sexual assualt, and indulging my life into a career working with federal offenders in Canada, many of them being sex offenders, I am disgusted with how many people reacted on the Dr. Phil show. These sex offenders are people too. Yes, they have have raped 1, 2, or more people, but that is why they spent time in PRISON! They are now on PAROLE! Which means that they have been sentenced for their crime. Them being on the street is their second chance at getting better and returning to the community and be law abiding.

As said before, I have been raped, the sex offenders still live in the commuity and it is not unusual for me to run into them from time to time. I work with many sex offenders. Where are they supposed to go? They can't stay in prison forever. My suggestion for everyone is to stop being to damn judgemental and give people a second chance. We do the same for burglars and robbers don't we?!?!

I can't believe the bleeding heart mentality, yours included, I've seen on this board, toward sex offenders. So what if they've served their time? And, are on parole. does that make children safe in their presense? Not always.

Sometimes a second chance is too much

I understand that you feel they need a second chance but what about the very large number of these sex offenders that just keep doing it and re-offend when they are released.  More of them re-offend than the ones that do not.  In a lot of cases they even escalate from just rape to rape and murder.  What about those offenders? Do you feel that is ok because you feel they need a second chance?  if the person or people who attacked you did it again do you think you would still want them on the street?  More often then not a sex offender can not be rehabilitated,  There have been many sex offenders themselves who have stated that if released they will continue to do what they do.  It is a sickness but in this case there is no little pill you can take to make it better.  You are basically saying that you don't care about the safety of women and children.  You don't care that theses dirty people will be leering at the neighborhood children dreaming about all the lewd and horrible things they would like to do to them.  Like I said in a previous post when it comes to sex offenders it should no longer be about their rights but instead about the rights of women and children to not have to fear for their safety from their neighbors.

Thing can be replaced, are childrens innocents can not

and yes, they can stay in jail forever, and when that law is past, it will be a great day. That will be one tax hike, I wouldn't mind paying.

Burglers, robbers and sex offenders? You're comparing apples and oranges.
