Way To Go

Quote From: sammike

In her opening statement, Robin spoke about sex being painful because she has interstitial cystitis.  This is a vey real and very painful ailment  and it was brushed over  and ignored like she never mentioned it. She said she has flare ups after sex and has wound up in the hospital. This alone is is enough to make her fearful of not wanting to have sex, but Dr. Masterson never even brought it up. Interstitial cystitis is a very real ailment and Tom should be more compasionate of Robin when she has a flare up because sex can be extremely painful when you have this ailment.
High five to you.  I hope they post my comments too by tomorrow....I felt the same way today as I watched...since I have had IC for years myself.  I hope you have come across Bladder Q.  It changed my life since there is no cure.  God bless you.  Robin

My UTI

I'm not sure why you replied to me, but it gives me the opportunity want to say that even though I haven't been diagnosed with IC, I still get HORRIBLE UTI's.   I've had to miss work on more than one occasion because I got pyleonephritis about 4 times. I know this is way different than IC, but it sucks because intercourse can set it off (along with a whole laundry list of other things).  I went to a Urologist who found that I just had a stricture and dilated the urethra (which hurt like hell for a few days, and I had to have a prophylactic Bactrim beforehand).  It helped a lot, though I get the occasional UTI, it's not as bad now.

Thanks for letting me share.

Masterson is a gynecologist.  Most OB/GYNs do not deal with problems of the urinary tract.  When I brought up the UTI's to my gynecologist, she said "you need to see a Urologist"  and it happened  that there was a group of them practicing in the same building.  They were more apt to help me in that dept.  OB/GYN's are for reproductive health, its their specialty.
