Being a cop

Quote From: njones0623

My son was a cop too and had a horrible time being a cop and a family man.  He has been to hell and not back yet.  The problem is that cops think they are the job and they lose themselves in the process.  We want them to protect us, but we also don't want them to be "human".  Hello, they are human beings and not super heroes.   Cops need tons of counseling to stay "normal".   Do a show on cops ex wives.

I was deeply reminded as I watched the show about the officer that lost his career after a shooting incident. I too wear his shoes and know that feeling that he has lived with all these years. I had a similar incident and lost my career which I loved. And the devastation cost me my family along with my livelihood all because of {in my opinion} politics. After that, I  could no longer find employment in my chosen field. This happened to me back in the early 80's and to this day I can not maintain a relationship and I have very few friends. I am self employed but still prefer to remain alone and shut others out. So I applaud you DR Phil for seeing this man's pain and coming to his aid. I hope that for himself as well as his family he follows through with your offers, gets the help  and saves his family as well as himself. And maybe someday the public will realize that cops are human and that deep inside they feel pain and love and only want to do a good days work protecting all of us from harm.
