These policial wives have had decades of learning how to act and speak so as to help get their husbands elected to office (sometimes MANY offices). They walk the walk and talk the talk IN PUBLIC, but just imagine what life is like behind closed doors!
Also, I am confident she wanted to rip his throat out, but she is the mother of his children, so her immediate thoughts are probably on what is the best way to behave for the sake of the children (regardless of their ages). She will most likely do the public "dance" for the cameras and also for the children, but show a different side of herself in private.
And, of course, her livelihood DOES go down the toilet when her husband's does, so her welfare IS dependent upon his. It must be scary to think that the income will stop, especially when you've stayed home to raise the family and be the social organizer for years. She is going to do what it takes to have him land on his feet. HER income and that of her children's dependents upon it!
