People find it so easy to tell battered women how to handle the situation and they haven't a clue. He has threatened to kill her if she leaves. He has demonstrated he can and would. He knows where her friends and family live. The police will only hold him for a short time. Would this assault be handled the same way if it were an important politician or diplomat? No. The offender would not be turned back out to threaten and assault his victim again. Protecting him is the same. Can the system keep her safe?
