That is actually bulls***. I didn't have sex until I was 20...and you know why? Because my parents, who are by the way Christians, told me the consequences of it. Teens need to know that abstinence until they are at a mature age is crucial because of the disease factor and early pregnancies. Such factors only cause a rise in abortions. But i guess that you don't really see anything wrong with abortion either. Oh and think about this: Ever since 'safe sex' has been taught in public schools, there has been a rise in STDs. hmmm...wonder where that came from...i guess so many kids think that they are protected by a rubber condom...even though you and I both know that a stupid rubber thing the size of a silver dollar is a far cry from a cloak of invincibility. Last year in a poll in my state of Louisiana, 40% of highschool girls had a known STD ...that percentage is up TWENTY percent from last year when only abstinance from sex was taught in sex ed...it's liberal minded people like you who bring the country down. How dare you.

Some posters insist on dooming their children to their own failures, because they can't see past their own nose and imperfections. They cry that their children won't listen to them and that these children have raging hormones and can not control these urges. However, when some one tells them differently, that would rather doom them to their imperfections rather than give them a chance.

I would venture to say, that if they knew that with 100% certainty that by their child becoming a Christian, they would be lifted above it all, they would likely call their child brain-washed. I could take a poll and they would overwhelmingly prefer that their child be gay than a Christian.

By the way, it is the gays trying to change the laws to allow their domestic partnerships to be allowed to be marriages. Christians are not trying to place a ban, and we also are not trying to place bans on incest marriages, because they are not covered under marriage laws. That is valuable information for any sex education class.

So you think it's A-Okay for those who do not have the resources YOU did to be left ignorant?  And you claim to be a Christian.  You have NO basis for STDs coming up when sex ed was taught- STD's have been around for centuries.  Look it up, it's called history.   I'm not liberal, actually, I consider myself conervative.  You should think twice before judging me, or anyone else on this board, it's not very Christian.

Do you have any research or statistics to back up that claim? According to the CDC, teen pregnancy and STDs had been on the decline from 1991 until recently. Abstinence only education has dominated schools since 1998, and we are now seeing a stagnation or slight rise in cases of teen pregnancy and STDs.

Who conducted this "poll"? It wouldn't surprise me if Louisiana had a high rate of teen pregnancy and STDs....most Bible Belt states do.

LOL! Actually states that are considered or tend to vote democrat or liberal have LOWER instances of teen pregnancy, lower instances of divorce, higher rates of education and income. I dare!!! LOL!

NICE

Good for you waiting until adulthood.  You argue the point beautifully that teens ought to know about diseases and pregnancy.....that IS what comprehensive sex ed teaches, couple with a focus on abstinence.

Such factors only cause a rise in abortions.

What factors do you refer to?  Teaching about STD's and STI's and how to prevent pregnancy?  I do not understand this sentence.

But i guess that you don't really see anything wrong with abortion either.

Wow, that's a very presumptive *guess* you are making here.  Just WOW!

Were do you get this information about the rise in STD's?  So tell me what do you suggest one does at say 20 y.o. and decides to engage in sex.....

"hmm condom?  Nah it's just a stupid rubber thing the size of a silver dollar."

Teaching teens that condom's are a stupid rubber thing the size of a silver dollar is a far cry from a cloak of invincibility  WOULD BE A DANGEROUS THING.  Perhaps teaching the proper way in which to use this *stupid thing* might prevent STD's....with emphasis that it ISN'T the be all and end all safeguard, but IF one is going to engage, it's actually not stupid....it's a viable option that STILL carries risks of failure.

Last year in a poll in my state of Louisiana, 40% of high school girls had a known STD ...that percentage is up TWENTY percent from last year when only abstinence from sex was taught in sex ed...

Wouldn't surprise me the bible belt is noted for such, still I'd like to read that poll and how it correlates these stats directly to the comprehensive sex ed curriculum.

it's liberal minded people like you who bring the country down. How dare you.

How dare someone think differently than you?  The first Amendment comes to mind....personally I'm glad that some DARE to speak out about this.  Let's hear it for all the dare devils in America....LOL.

As for your last sentence, I hate labels.  I don't believe in a political party or a church dictating to ME who to vote for, Jesus wasn't a Republican.  I'm NOT a product of my environment, my environment is a product of ME.  Everyone believes differently, IMO, as they're called by God to believe, and who are YOU to judge God's call?

There are far worse things than being branded "liberal" by you, who has no clue as to who I am, what I do, or what I believe in. You might actually want to read what I wrote before you respond to these posts, maybe you just needed a reason to go off.

Bottom line:  Keeping teens ignorant and lying to them leads to their inexorable destruction.   Open your mind and heart, you'd be surprised at the results.
