Bipolar Disorder

I know he has limitations as to what he can be assigned to, but I really think he would apply himself if he were allowed to enlist. hello, i do not know for sure if people with bipolar can get into the military or not but my 15 year old son was diagnosed with bipolar and i think the 3rd, doctor that treated him asked my son what he wanted to do with his life and my son told him that he wanted to go into the army and his doctor said that the militay does not accept people who have a mental illness, and then he said "the last thing they want to do is put a gun in the hands of someone who is mentally unstable". i was upset at his comment. like i said this may just be something he said in attempts to get my son to try to straighten up or it may be fact, maybe someone else reading your post will have more details. take care
