Pot does not lead to schizophrenia

Quote From: parkbus

The trouble with the weed these days is comes in different forms. In Australia it can be used in a Bong and unfortunatley it can have thing added to it when smoked.  I believe this is what makes a user become violent, plus weed is Hydroponicly grown etc.  Ultomatly it ends in most users becoming mentaly ill.  this can often be permanent.  I know this becouse my son went through this and now has permanent scitsofeenia( I know that is not how you spell it).

However, your genes, which you passed on to him at birth, is a probably cause! Nor does it lead to mental illness. Please stop your hysteria and read up on it.

Huh?  You can add "something" to a roll your own cigarette for that matter.  Your son did not become a schizophrenic by smoking pot.  If you are serious, my heart goes out to you.  An old friend of mine does have a  son who has this, and it is tough to live with everyday.

I am PRETTY sure that you cannot get schizophrenia from drugs.  Drugs can aggravate ANY mental illness.  But drugs get blamed for this because the first schizophrenic break is in the late teens or early twenties, this is the age a lot of people experiment with drugs. Many people make the mistake of linking the two. I have a schizophrenic uncle who has his first break while he was pot smoker, all we've ever been told was it can aggravate it, but it certainly didn't CAUSE it.
