Daniel's parents don't even have this option. I think they protest to much. As far as their illnesses go, I believe for mom and dad and little brother to blame the judicial system for doing it's job is ludicrous. Responsibility is the word of the day here. Their daughter caused the life of another human being to be extinguished. End of Story. For Brandi's mom to bring up that Dan's mom was not in her son's life is just sad.
