04/30 "It's My Baby Too!"

Quote From: erinezzell

I don't know what the story behind the biological father is, but how dare you say that he doesnt have the right to be a parent to his daughter.   In a time when so many fathers don't live up to the responsibilities that they helped create, here is a father that is and the law says too bad. It makes no sense.  If you think that he shouldnt be able to raise his daughter because he isnt married then there should be a lot of children placed for adoption.  How many single mothers are there out there? lots.  So unless this guy is an alcoholic, drug abuser or child abuser, then give him his child!!

Amen to that.

It would be poetic justice if ( God forbid ) the child needed a blood transfusion or organ donation and the only compatible doner was the father. I would love to see how the athorities that kept the father from his child would approach him in that case.

If you're a father, you SHOULD have rights to your children and the children should have the right to be with their natural parents. As long as the parents have proven themselves worthy and have done nothing wrong, then to seperate the family is nothing but an injustice.

Amen to that.   He should have the same rights as the mother.  What a shame.

He has been ABUSVE to the baby's mom, lived in a half way house, can't drive, has DWI's (more than one)He has admitted that he can't afford the baby and has already said his mom can help him---It seems there is ALOT more to it than being a single dad!  Just because hemade a baby with an 18 yr old girl (15 yrs younger than him) does not make him a father!  This man obviously has issues and this baby deserves so much better!  She has a loving family-----Give this baby a chance in life.

I didn't see anything stable about him at all except for the support of his mother. I do feel for that lady. But a 35-year-old drug abuser and alcoholic who is living in a halfway house has no business hitting on 20-year-old women in bars and having unprotected sex with them. He just realized that because of his status/station in life, he's not likely to meet anyone else that would be willing to have a kid with him and now he wants to glom onto that.

The man can't take care of himself - it is painfully obvious that there's no way he could take care of another. Kudos to Esther who decided to have the baby after all and then find a good home for the child. (I am pro-choice, by the way, but when there's a possibility of a good home for a child, then I am all for adoption.)

If this guy ever gets his act together - i.e., a reliable job, several years of sobriety, then maybe he'll be fortunate enough to find someone who will want a baby with him. But to punish an innocent child, a fairly naive young woman who had the misfortune to meet him as well as loving, adoptive parents - no, that's not right.

I am absolutely outraged at this!!  I agree, with all of the dead-beat dad's in this country, why in the world are we going to refuse a man to step up and be a father.  About this law, if he was told that she had an abortion then what would lead him to believe that he needed to take action? Besidesthe fact that the family has openly admitted that they refused to take any calls from the father and denied him the chance to take part in the pregnancy. I feel that the mother and her family are totally wrong for this.  They seem to have the attitude that they don't want the baby but they don't want the father to have her either!  And for his past, don't we all have skeletons in the closet?  If he is trying to change then what right does anyone have to say that he isn't worth the chance?  After all, we don't do background checks on the mother before she can take the baby from the hospital!  I wish the father all the best and I  hope that he can get custody of his baby girl!  There are so many children that don't feel like they are wanted in this world I hope she isn't another one.  We need to change all the laws and give the fathers the same rights as the mothers!  I am the mother of a beautiful 10 year old child and I could never imagine what her life would be without her father and what his life would be without her!  I have never felt like I should, or do, have any more rights than he.
