Same here with my rebate check
Quote From: mustbecrazyI went out for what was supposed to be a quick trip to town...a couple of miles from home, another driver flagged me down to tell me that I had a flat tire...he helped me change the tire...yes, I do carry a spare, but I don't know how to change a tire...couldn't get on the ground like that to do the job...I'd never be able to get back up again...that was so nice of the gentleman to change my tire...a complete stranger...I'm so thankful that it didn't go flat while I was taking the kids to school...or worse, on the freeway...and it was perfect timing with our tax rebate...like we needed another thing to spend it on...had to buy new tires...the treads were pretty worn...I feel better now, knowing that the tires are going to last...the rest of the rebate money will be going toward my husband's new insulin pump...in one pocket, and out the other...
I never did make it into town...got gas locally, instead of at Costco...at a much higher price, but I didn't have time to do all of my errands, and running to Costco just to save a little on gas would be silly...it would have taken 2 gallons of gas to get there and back...I only get gas there if I am in the area already...we live 20 miles from there...and I went to the local grocery outlet instead of the regular grocery store in town...got what I needed...I can run out to town later in the week for the rest of what I need...nothing urgent...
Well, time for bed now...still have some little ones resisting bed time...gotta go...Becky Becky, I've come to realize that this money comes to me as a gift to help me move forward. Like yesterday, I worked 7 hours so I could buy me a grill at Target (sure hope they still some left!). The money comes and it goes out. My 1st pay check was like that! I was able to save $40 ... which is going towards my new boots this year. And the money that I get next week is going to pay for the software I need to do my work at home. Yep, doesn't leave me anything after that.
Yet, where would I be if that money didn't arrive. AND best of all, it comes exactly when I need it. What if it had been last week or next week and you didn't have the money ... so it's a good thing that your flat tire happened today AND you had the help of a complete stranger.
And I know what you mean about buying gas. Our TV stations up here are posting the cheapest gas on their websites. No kidding! I bought gas on Monday at 3.75, on Tuesday it was 3.85. Yep, in 1 day!
