oh dear... the voice of the wise

Quote From: crimepro

The very sad thing for both famlies is that they, and many people on this message board have ,is that they are incapable of seeing past emotions and seeing  the raw facts of this case. ( not saying the case was not an emotional one ) but understanding the judicial system that i work in. The facts are... what they are. If indeed the police report proved she was innocent, and it was an accident as the family believes,  she would not be doing 12 years in prison. You can chose to believe he beat her , or that he was suicidal, ( even without proof )but of all things believe in the system that is devised to put guilty people in jail. They arrested this girl immediatly , booked her and began to prosecute her. Do you think ..hmm maybe they knew she was guilty. Her attorney talked her into  taking 12 years because it was the best deal she was going to get. There was no tricking her at the last minute....court documents and plea bargains are a concrete processed thing, and every one knows that no judge can reappoint a private attorney to another case. With a judge or jury and all the facts she would have gotten several more years in prison. So those who feel sorry for her continue to do so, but don't call the convicted ...innocent call them what they are ...guilty.

did you actually say: "if the police report proved she was innocent..." This is what it means if we go by your logic:

You say the girl would not be in prison if the judicial system you WORK in wasn't correct and flawless in everything it does.

Why then would the police report be wrong? You admitted it could be.

Why then could your judicial system not be wrong here as well? You are not logical. You are as emotional as the next guy. Emotional about your beloved judicial system.

Spread the word. Brandi has to be let go. And all the others like her. Even if you get laid off because there's not enough work! If you work for the judicial system then be a good person... yourself.

If you read the news reports on this in the Kansas City Star (which I did), it said she was booked for FIRST DEGREE MURDER and ARMED CRIMINAL ACTION.  It also stated that Daniel was standing in his YARD, not the street, when she came barreling down the street at over 60 mph and swerved INTO HIS YARD, hitting him.  A deliberate act.  Then she went home, planted a tree limb in the windshield, and proceeded to bold-faced lie to her parents about what truly happened.

Her parents stated they fired the first lawyer for not agreeing to plead her out.  The second lawyer got her a plea deal.  A mighty fine one, too, imo.  Personally, on the basis of the FACTS of the case, I would have given her life without parole for premeditated murder.  Teenager or not, she knew hitting someone with a car was wrong, and should suffer the consequences of her actions.  I tend to agree with Daniel's mother that 12 years was a slap on the wrist.

Brandi is a spolied little liar, who just doesn't like paying the price for what she did, and wants to pull out all the stops to change the outcome of her senseless behavior.  She's exactly where she should be, only the sentence should have been longer, imo.

And as I said in a previous post, Brandi's parents made it crystal clear how she became the person she is today.  They were acting with self-serving, uncaring, consciousless behavior, and their daughter is like an apple which doesn't fall far from the tree.
