Pediatrician

Quote From: minerj73

I have a 10 yr old son that still wets his bed about every night.  I've looked up information on bedwetting and it seems to be a common thing, but I am getting very concerned about him.  If anyone had any solutions to our problem I would really appreciate them.

Have you discussed this with the pediatrician?

Ours gave my daughter a nose spray called DDVAP

My daughter wets the bed. She is 14 and suffers from bipolar disorder. Does he have any mental health issues, like add or adhd?? Just wondering as it seems very common with these children.

It has something to do with the transmitter from the bladder to the brain. Seems that the part of the brain that is suppose to send the message is either not working or delayed.

I have a daughter and a neice who have this same problem.  While my neice (who is 12) started this after toddler years, my daughter has wet the bed always, she is now 11, and it is getting better already. Some say that emotional stress can cause bedwetting, Ive heard 100 stories and who really knows the answer.  I have learned that if I dont make a big deal of it, that it causes less embarassment for my daughter, where my neice's parents make this everyday talk of the dinner table, she is SUPER conscious about her problem.  This can also be inheritted from other family members, as my daugther inheritted it from me. My neice was put on medication, which made her skin break out and of course, after the medicine was gone, the bedwetting came back.  Medicine could be used for when your child spends the night with a friend or goes on vacation, but I dont like the medicine.  I really would not worry too much, and if you do, the childs worries too.  I HAVE found that making sure my daughter goes to the restroom last thing before bedtime helps alot, and we set the alarm clock for her to get up about 2:00am.  Best advice is to be understanding and know that they cant help this problem.  I've lived it, and can surely relate. I grew out of it and unless there is some underlying medical condition, your's should too.
