Thank You
Quote From: cheriemont I am so glad you came to our board!! We are all fat here (except those who have been here a while and are well on their way to reaching goal, that is). And I do believe we can help you--be the support you need on this weight-loss journey. I applaud you for not cutting!! That is a true step forward to making a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your son. And step by step we will help you get there so you CAN be the person you want to be for YOU and the mom you want to be for your son.
Have you read Dr. Phil's book called the "Ultimate Weight Solution"? That is the basic book we all use. Get a copy and start reading it--then read it over and over again (he deals with all kinds of emotional issues we all have so you will see it is much more than just a food plan and exercise). There are some questionnaires in the book--complete those as you read to get the most good out of them and don't just skip over them figuring you will come back and do those later. Even if you only read the book 15-20 minutes a day, you will be making progress on your new healthy lifestyle!
Then begin drinking AT LEAST 8 glasses of water (8-oz. glasses). I don't mean coffee, tea, juice or other liquid either--just count the clear plain water. If you drink your water before you start drinking other liquids for the day, it is not that hard--just takes a little getting used to, but you can do it.
Then sit down and plan out ONE healthy meal for yourself (a small amount of protein, lots of veggies) then another and another--you will soon have 3 meals planned. Then plan 2 healthy snacks (maybe a handful of nuts or a small piece of fruit). Once you have done that, you will have one full day planned foodwise. Then stick to that plan. It is always good to plan at least a day ahead so you have the food you need handy.
And move your body a little more each day than the day before. Maybe you cannot exercise a lot, but if you can walk, try walking a little bit--some have to start at 5 minutes or less at first. Or if walking is hard on you (some of us have bad knees from YEARS of carrying the weight), you could try dancing around the house waving your arms or just sitting in a chair and doing arm lifts and circles (maybe holding a can of vegetables in each hand as weights). Just so you do SOME intentional exercise and add to that each day.
Lastly, come here to this board as often as possible (I hope you will commit to coming here each day). Read all the posts--even those with someone else's name on them are posted here to help ALL the members. And post your own message--whether it's a simple "hi" or sharing with us your challenges and successes each day, we want to hear from you so we can help you. We will be here to cheer you on your successes and nudge you back onto the path of this weight-loss journey.
We all have a lot of weight to lose. We know that it will take one, two or more years to reach our get-real goal weight. And we would love to have you join us on our journey. Please keep coming back to our board and I know you can do it. We all can. One baby step at a time--TOGETHER.
Have a fantastic day!
Cherie
I want to thank you for your encouraging words. I have a lot to work on and I'm praying that I'll be able to learn from this board.
