09/12 The N-Word Debate

Quote From: mrgrt56

I don't understand how this man gained so much fame and respect, when he rose to those by lying and perpetrating a fraud?  Why is it okay that the African Americans can spew hatred about anyone and none of them are taken to task? Did the media go balistic and criticize Kanye West after his outburst on TV after hurricaine Katrina? No, they replayed  it as a condemnation of the Bush administration?  An African American child calling a white overweight child fat is as hurtful to the white child as the "N" word to the African American. I doubt if any uproar would be made about the child being called fat.

I seriously don't believe the N word can be aligned with calling a white child fat.  Are you serious?  The problem being is that you can loose weight.  You cannot change the color of your skin.  I hear the word and however it is used to me is un called for.

yes the media did go balistic about Kanye West comment. so what are you talking about?? after Kanye West statement many white americans lost all respect for him. there were white americans who didnt appreciate his statement, and made comments of there own about Kanye West but im sure thats not going to be published..now is it??

sure there wouldnt be an uproar about a white child being called "fat". there are many other people who get called fat all day long. there is a history about this "N-word". african-americans were given this name as a definition of our character, as if ALL AFRICAN-AMERICANS are the same, as if all african-americans are ignorant. its way more then just a word. being called a n**** doesnt feel good at all..(i know). its a degrading word.

Black people were dicriminated against because of the color of their skin. Children were raped beat spit on etc. You can loose weight but you can't change your skin color. Any hatered expressed by African Americans is usually, not always expressed out of anger due to racism they've experienced. No it doesn't excuse them but, but if your hit hard enough eventually you're gonna lash back. The N word is very hurtful and disrespectful to a myraid of people of color and of all ages. There was no love behind that word just a meaning of disrespect torture and belittling. As an African- American with friends of all nationalities, I don't use that word to them and I also feel, out of respect to our ancestors, grandparents and to anyone whom had to endure the pain behind that word we should just let it go. Webster has many more words that can mean ignorant or "terms of endearment".

Actaully Kanye West was looked at as a little crazy and it did seem innapropirate for him to make the comment at that time. His comment was not hateful. He was expressing his personal opinion about how George bush handled the situation. As far as a black child calling a white child fat, black children get called fat too, and no one makes a big deal out of it. Do not compare a racial slur to an insult about one's physical appearance. Anyone can be called fat, not everyone can be called a N*%%@# and hurt by it.

What man are you talking about?  The N word was derived from negative terms and meanings for people that were not of european descent.  {not white skin tone} African Americans were brought to this country against their will and enslaved, by others. European people were brought to this country and enslaved as indentured servants.  Tell me the difference, {color, different languages, ethnicity, different habits and backgrounds, WHAT}  The basic purpose of enslaving the africans was to control them, and for them to work for the LAZY white man, who thought that they were superior to every other man, because they had  trinkets to barter and trick other cultures for their own selfish needs.  Who created the N word?  not the africans, because did not speak english!!   You should know where you have come from , and maybe you could have an idea of where you are going!!!!!!!!!!!

The media knew that Bush was wrong for the way he treated Katrina victims and I seen plenty of news anchors themselves say that things would have been different if the victims weren't black.  That wasn't a good example, sorry.

Are you talking about Paul Mooney? Anyways, you asked  why it is okay that black folks can spew hatred and and are not taken to task. You have to show me examples of this for me to fully address it. Kanye West got fined somewhere around $150,000.00 just for saying that George Bush doesn't care about black people. That statement was true. I could go on and on proving this but I won't because you would not believe me anyways. Did Kanye make a racist remark? No. He made a remark regarding race. That does not make him racist at all. If you really want to know the truth, Hurricane Katrina wasn't that bad of a storm. The levy broke, which caused the floods. The levy broke because it was bombed. Look it up. You Tube it. People were left to die while Bush did nothing. Canada offered support but Bush refused. Look it up. As far as the N word being equal to calling a white child fat, I can only shake my head and laugh. You obviously know nothing about black people and I don't care how many black people you have met. You are ignorant. Again, I can go on and on talking about black history, black people, racism, but you would not believe me anyways so I won't bother. Speaking as a black man I can tell you that we are the most forgiving race of people you will ever meet.  Did we seek revenge after slavery was over and attempt to kill all white people? No, but white people sure deserved it. For the most part, we are friendly to you. How many times have you heard about black people randomly killing whites? Now reverse that and ask the same question about whites killing blacks. How many police have harassed, beaten, abused, or killed black people? Probably none that you know of but I have heard many instances. Look at Sean Bell. Look up Jena 6. If you did then you would know that things are not equal at all, so please don't cry in these blogs about how bad white people have it. Your people own the world yet that isn't good enough for you. You need to open your eyes, and ask questions.
