No Excuses Workout Tips…

Quote From: jaamtaf

I am 46 and just watched the first weight loss show of the season and really want to loose some weight. I have lots of excuses why I shouldn't work out, and now could use some excuse free tips. I have two sons, 9th grade and 7th grade, I do not work out side the home but am always busy managing the household. This is the first time I have not had to work extensively with the school and my oldest son (special needs) so am feeling a bit in limbo about how long this will last (not having to go in everyday). My excuse to not go for a walk today is it's kind of chilly - 58 degrees. But I know the dog needs the walk and so do I. So . . . a little encouragement and support would be much appreciated.

I'm 58 and I too just watched the first weight loss show of the season !!   It Was Great !

I need to lose about 50 lbs but would be glad to lose 30  , but  it's sooo hard !

I don't work outside of the home either because I had a knee replacement done and I'm  still not back on my feet completely , plus I have arthritis and if I could lose some weight I'm sure it would help me... Its still difficult to go out walking very far but today I did it and I'm planning on going tomorrow morning ... You owe it to yourself and your family to get into shape ...I know you can do !

SOO  YOU GO GIRL !!!!

GET OUT FOR THAT WALK AND KEEP A JOURNAL OF WHAT YOU EAT THIS WEEK AND YOU WILL SEE A LOSE NEXT WEEK .. GOOD LUCK

You have the best reason and time to do your walking.  Your children are in school and you have a dog that for more reasons that you can imagine needs to be walked.  Organize your day so that you have atleast 1 hour for yourself while your kids are not in need of your attention.  Give this time to you and the dog.  If you have any question as to how important a walk is to the dog, check out "The Dog Whisperer" on TV and the web.  I work a 10+ hour day 4 days a week.  When I get home it is time for dinner and it is late.  I still have to do the walk even if it is a short walk.  On Friday, Saturday and Sunday we walk 5+ miles each day.

You have the opportunity you just need to take it and leave it.

I am a 41 year old mother of two.  My kids are in grade 9 and 6.  I too am a stay at home mom managing the household and kid's activities.  Husband works out of the country 6 months out of the year.  I just wanted to say working out and getting the incentive to do so is difficult.  The first two weeks can be difficult.  But once you start, there is no going back.  You feel so much better physically and mentally.  I walk outside briskly for 60 minutes on warmer days and on my treadmill on cooler.  I bought a video called ripped.  It's a weight lifting program using free weights.  Three months later the inches coming off have begun to show.  My only main difficulty is food.  I love food.  I need to lose the last 15 pounds and it is extremly difficult for me.  I just bought Dr.Phil's book, so I am hoping the keys will help me to reach my goal.  Get yourself an MP3 player or IPOD and walk that dog, before you know it you'll be wanting to run.  Get a friend to walk with you if  you can or walk with your kids when they get home from school.  Also, any video to do with kick boxing is very empowering.  GOOD LUCK AND LOOK AT EXERCISE AS HAVING FUN!!

I recently bought Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies that came out 20 years ago. It was recently released on DVD and it is about a 40 minute workout which makes you sweat but makes you feel like you are dancing rather than working out. I really enjoy it...maybe it will help you with your workouts and can be done at home when you have time. Check it out on his website richardsimmons.com

I will be your buddy!  I know what you mean by special needs as my husband has a type of dementia and is at a stage where he is attached to me with an invisible cord which makes it hard to exercise.  I began by counting calories the day of the first program and am happy that I have lost the initial amount of 5 lbs.  Now the real work will begin.  Keep a journal no matter how small it is of what you eat and try each week to do something constructive for your health.  To begin with I have been drinking water instead of diet cola.  Oh, by the way, I am 69 and need to lose 55 lbs.
