We could make a committment to email each weekend. 

I cannot be sure I will get to a computer on a specific day, 

but I can be sure that I report in sometime over the weekend. 

(Friday, Saturday, Sunday) 

I have decided to make a six month initial committment to my weight loss challenge. 

(April through September 2006) 

I do not live in your area, but I very much wanted to do this with an American living in Las Vegas.

I too live in Las Vegas.  My name is Lori and I'm happily married with two great children.  I'm not sure if you're still in Las Vegas or not.   I know all about military transfers and deployment, because my husband was active duty for 22 years up until last year.  There really is life after the military, but I really miss living on base and the support of instant friends and neighbors.  Something I just don't find as much in the civilian world. 

  

I really NEED to loose with for health reasons, ie; high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  Yes I am overweight, but very comfortable with my body size and shape.  It doesn't help that the BP meds, have cause me to gain even more weight.  I'm 5'2" - 220 pounds.  But I don't want to die before my time like my grandparents did with the same health conditions. 

  

I'd love to hear from any other women in Las Vegas too.

            I just signed up today. I watch Dr. Phil every chance I get.  I have never joined an on-line group.  So I hope I'm doing this right.  I signed up after watching the "Slim for Summer" episode.  I have been un-succesfully trying to lose weight since my son was born 9 years ago.  And now, it has become an even bigger issue with me, after becoming engaged this past Christmas, and now my fiance' is wanting to set a date, and tie the knot!!    

          I live on the east side of Las Vegas, near the intersection of Sahara & Lamb(&/or Nellis).  I'm not sure how this "buddy" thing works, but I am looking forward to doing this, hopefully with a little support system going!!

    i AM NEW TO THE BOARDS AND TO LAS VEGAS.   I to need to lose weight ...for myself, health and family. Since recently moving out here from Ohio it has been hard to get motivated..my best friend and i from Ohio use to walk together or just touch basis daily to keep motivated..but out here it is such a clture shock and it's not the friendliest place on earth...but I think we could all be each others support group if you would like.

I have DVT in my entire left leg that doesnt allow me to do much and the doctors are pretty much undecided what to do with it and i have gained so much weight being immobile..depression and frustration has kicked me in the head ...so I have decided I want it off yesterday I'm up to 230 and i'm 5'10" ..oh my...2 years ago i wore a size 6...so if we all want to lend each other some motivation i'm willing..I live on the North side of Las Vegas...McCarran St./Losee way up by 215 (next to the mt.)...Thanks Ladies, Sandy

  My name is Roseann. I am 45 years old. I know what the pressures of body image is like in Vegas.  I was a fat kid and grew into a fat adult. As a little girl I was promised all sorts of things to lose weight. Like all little overweight girls I also heard alot that expression "you have such a pretty face" At age 29 I finally did it. I lost 125 pounds. I have to admit that keeping it off is the hardest part. The past 16 years I yo yo those same 10 to 15 pounds, which leads me to my fears of gaining it back.

  I would like the oppertunity of helping someone, which in turn would help myself. I also would like to hear from someone who has been fighting the battle of keeping it off.

I just read your e-mail on the message boards.  I too live in Las Vegas.  I have been a Weight Watcher since 2002.  I have lost about 40 LBS. and within the last year have gained 15 LBS. back.  I went back to W.W. in July and have now gotton 8 of the 15 LBS. off that I have gained.  I have 7 to go.  I was wondering if you have ever tried W.W.?  If you ever need any help I would be glad to help you out.  I read in your e-mail that you don't find much support in the civilian world but I just think it's Las Vegas.  There are so many transient people here and no one is friendly.   Anyway, if you would like some support I would be glad to help you out!

Hi all!

 

I'm Katz.   I've lived in Las Vegas for 2 and a half years.  Last year I lost 45 pounds with the Weight Loss Chanllenge.  Yippee!!!!

 

This year I got married and started cooking for my husband.  In the last three months I've gained eight pounds back.  Not Good!  I sure as heck don't want to gain the rest back!

 

I'd like to have an e-mail and maybe a face to face buddy to help me get back on track and stay there.  I'm finding it much harder with someone else in the house who eats differently than I do and isn't ready to change yet.

 

I work full time and haven't been able to make myself cook two separate meals for us every night.  Thus I'm not eating right. 

 

Anyone else with a similar problem?

I just registered to this sight, I watch dr. phil most everyday and have written to him a few times. I live near Charleston and Sloan. very east side of town. I joined LA Weight loss a month ago and have lost 12 lbs. I really need to get my baby weight off. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

    The thing is I am having a really tough time with this! I am on anti depressants and all I can think about is eating. Am I the only one?   I am 5'6" and 218lbs. My husband is supportive but he is 6'4" and REALLY  skinny!  And as much as he tries to help I can't take advice from someone who has never had the feelings I have. I don't believe him when he tells me im looking good. (How can I be?I can see in the mirror!)

Anyways, I really need another person for support! I need a weight loss buddy that I can talk to when I need help being strong. Can anyone help?
