Hi Jetta!

Quote From: jettav

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I won't be on much as today the girls and I will be going out shopping and having fun together :). I am also in need to stay away from the boards for a bit as I spend a lot of time on the marriage and parenting boards. I try to stay off on the weekends as sometimes I fail to do that LOLLLL. My hubby will soon be starting a new job and gets his days back so he will be off in the evenings so time will pretty well be spent with him. Right now, he pretty much sleeps through the day and we really don't see much of him so I amd the girls, especially my 5 year old is so looking forward to daddy being home with us...............Have a great day every one.

I hope you and the family have a great weekend together!

Take care,

Hi there, Blcksheepy!

Quote From: blcksheepy

I would love to have that little sheepy next to my username.   Where did you find it?   It's so cute.

While I was waiting til it was time to pick up my daughter (1:30 am!!!) I had some time to play around on the computer.  I went to Yahoo and clicked on images and did a search on "black sheep".  I saw it and thought it was just so cute!

You can actually right click that sheep image, save it to your computer (remember where you save it) and add it to your Dr. Phil profile.

Take care,

Hi there, Blcksheepy...

Quote From: blcksheepy

Is communion (either the Catholic transubstantiation way, or the rememberance Protestant way) necessary for our salvation?   I finally learned how to spell transubstantiation.

hugs

blcksheepy :o)

I think it depends on the person.

Someone who never believed in Jesus, can, on his deathbed proclaim Jesus as His Lord and Savior, confess his sins, seek to be forgiven and be saved.

On the other hand...if I don't come to The Lord in communion...there's a tugging in my heart that tells me I'm moving away from Jesus.  For me, communion is a *huge* part of my relationship with Jesus...it's essential to how I worship Him with my family and others in my community.

I have a relationship with The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit...in which I feel His Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Guidance, Grace and Mercy, and in turn...my heart thirsts to worship Him.  I just have to...if I don't "something's" wrong with me.  I've moved away from Him somehow.

This may not be the case for you or others at all.

Our relationships with Jesus are so personal.

Hugs back atcha,

Marie  :o)

Hi Elffie...

Quote From: elffie

I came across this board and was excited to see it.  I don't get to say much about Paganism.....most people do not understand.  I've copied a post below so that will help.  I have also made many postings on this subjects, to read them just click on my name and go to "read messages from this user".  I am in the middle of moving, so I do not have a  lot of free time, so if I do not return your question or reply, please excuse me.  Paganism is a religion.  We are not athiest, or evil, or devil worshippers.  We do not believe in him.  Anyway, I must go now, lots of empty boxes await me. LOL  Have a good day everyone.

I didn't think I would get so many positive posts.  You are right when you talk about "New Age"  I myself have wondered why it is called that when Paganism has been around for thousands of years!  Paganism pre-dates Christianity.  Infact, many Pagans were persecuted because they didn't want to convert to Christianity.  I think maybe it is called "New Age" because Paganism and Wicca are making a comeback.  I wrote a little something on this in an earlier post.  Wicca is a sect of Paganism kind of how Catholocism is a sect of Christianity.  All Wiccans are Pagan, but not all Pagans are Wiccan.

The equality of sexes is very important, you can't have one without the other, how would the world or the human species flourish if there were only one?  This is what I believe.  To answer your questions:

1.)  I could go on forever of the history of my faith.  We are mentioned in the Bible.  When God created Adam and Eve He mentions people of the East.  So obviously there were people around before them.   Could these people be the Pagans?   Again, these are my thoughts and beleifs, I hope no one takes offense to them.  Now, their two sons marry, but where did their wives come from?  Were they the people from the East?  Pagan?  Who knows for sure.  I just  thought this was interesting.

As for the recent history of my religion, we are making a comeback.  People are not hiding anymore.  There is nothing to hide.  Paganism is a loving religion, not one full of evil.

2.) What I beleive happens to us after we die is that we are reunited with the God and the Goddess.  Isn't that the goal for most religions?  To be one with diety?  We beleive the Mother Goddess gives birth to us all and she takes us in when we pass and we stay for a while until we are ready to return to Earth again.  Reincarnation.

3.)  We do have a Rede that we follow and it goes like this, "An' it harm none,l do what ye will."  Basically this is saying that you may do what you want as long as it is not causing harm for another.  There is no Hell or Heaven in this religion.  We do beleive in Karma, as to," What goes around, comes around." And, " You will get what you deserve in the end."  There are no threats of eternal damnation or firing flames or the devil.  Basically our life goal is to live peacefully, respect nature, and the people in this world.  Sure, there are evil people, but I do not try to convert them, that is not my job.  My job is to honor the God and Goddess and honor all things that they create.

4.)  Paganism doesn't really have anything against other religion.  We believe that there are many paths in this world to take and only one path cannot be right for everyone.  I know some of these religion mentioned above have a bad rap, but so does mine, so how can I judge?  I honestly haven't done much reserch on the Muslim faith, but I do think there are people out there that will judge and say things about one's religion when they themselves have never looked into it.  As long as they beleive in something and are not hurting people I say leave them be.

I hope this answers your questions.  Paganism has a very long history.  If you are still interested, "Drawing Down the Moon," by Margot Adler is an excellent book about the Pagan movement.  It is a long read, but worth it.

Thank you so much for sharing your faith with us.

I live in the SF Bay Area, and I have 2 girlfriends from work who belong to covens in The City.  They are loving and caring medical assistants.  They are pagan and call themselves Wiccan.  I love them to pieces and have no desire to convert them..."If it ain't broke...don't try to fix it".

Hugs...and welcome!

I also have a local coven and know many Wiccans.   People are freaked out by that religion only if they do not understand it IMO.    I think there may be more understanding than there used to be, but I will leave Effie to judge that because she's walking the pagan walk.

I  still have many questions about it.   I don't like to ask people about their religions in "real life".   It is a touchy subject for so many people.   I was taught it was rude to ask people about their politics, religion, or salary.  :o)

to Marie ...but open to everyone

Quote From: _marie_

The scripture you quoted about the dog returning to it's own vomit comes to mind.

Those of us who *do* have a real and personal relationship with Jesus need to do much more than Love to be saved.  We will be judged by a different standard...

But for those who weren't raised in a home or community that nurtured this belief...I believe can be saved by Love.

A child of God living in a loving Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Pagan (Hi Elffie!!) etc, etc  to me would be saved.  My God is Merciful beyond what I can fathom...I believe this so deeply.

In His Love,

Marie

Hi Marie.  You said we have to do something to be saved?

I have the little sheepy saved on my computer, but can't get it to upload on my profile.   If mods are watching can you help me?   I am doing all the right things...browse, then opening the file, then uploading, and it says the image will be "automatically saved", but nothing appears next to my username.   I want that little sheepy so bad!   Baaaaa Baaaaa.

ME TOO!

Quote From: blcksheepy

I  still have many questions about it.   I don't like to ask people about their religions in "real life".   It is a touchy subject for so many people.   I was taught it was rude to ask people about their politics, religion, or salary.  :o)

For  a long time I would never discuss religion with anyone, unless it was at prayer group or in one of my classes.  A situation happened to me recently (online) which helped me to overcome this.  I would post my politics on message boards because it was comfortable to me.

I'm still very thoughtful with what I discuss and with whom in "real life".  I just don't think it's appropriate sometimes.  I want people to feel comfortable around me...Mother Teresa once said "Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.  Be the living expression of God's kindness:  kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile."

I have a long way to go in this regard, but for me, the way I share my love of Christ is how I treat others...I don't talk about my Christianity too much in real life...I'd rather people recognize Christ in what I do.

We have a lot in common...I was also taught to never discuss religion or politics in polite company.  We are no longer polite company!

You sister in Christ,

Marie

Hey Blcksheepy...

Hi Marie.  You said we have to do something to be saved?

blcksheepy :o)

You don't have to sign your posts if you don't want to (or if you forget to) here!  You just post away and do what feels natural to you.

For me...if I want to get really technical, it does all come down to love.  Jesus gave us the Two Great Commandments, "Love God with all you've got...and your neighbor as yourself".

There is so much involved in these two commandments, though.

Loving God with all I've got means I have to worship Him...and keep the Sabbath Holy the best I can.  I have to put Him in the center of my life, the best I can.  Everything I do and don't do needs to be right in His eyes.

Then there's loving my neighbor the best I can.  That includes my kids, my husband  AND MYSELF!  That's a biggie, too!  If I can't be gentle, compassionate, forgiving toward myself...how can I be that for anyone else?  I have to honor the Child of God within me, take care of myself, eat right, rest, etc, etc.  I have to duty to be a good wife to my husband, and a good mother to my kids.  I have to forgive and seek forgiveness.  I have to try really hard not to judge...that's really hard.  Whatever I do to the least of my brethren, I do to Jesus...I work with elderly and disabled people.  Do I just move them along when I am in contact with them, or do I really see Christ in them?  Do I share what I have with others?  The list goes on and on...

There is so much more to being Christian than the label of "saved" or "unsaved"...our salvation is a process...ongoing...always presenting us with new challenges...

Are you sorry you asked?  LOL

Hugs backatcha...

Marie

PS...I wish I could help you with your icon!  Maybe some Dr Phil peeps will come by soon...
